Job description

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Design Drafter to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will transform conceptual ideas into precise technical drawings and schematics that guide construction and design processes. Your expertise in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software and mechanical drafting will be instrumental in ensuring project accuracy, efficiency, and success. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional eager to support residential and/or small commercial building projects.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Design

  • Prepare detailed 2D and/or 3D construction drawings using CAD or BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).

  • Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, and detail drawings.

  • Convert sketches, markups, and verbal instructions into technical drawings.

  • Revise drawings based on client feedback, field changes, and engineering updates.

  • Ensure all drawings comply with local building codes and zoning requirements.

Project Support

  • Create and submit drawings for permit submission packages, both residential and commercial.

  • Coordinate drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants.

  • Support material takeoffs and basic quantity estimates.

  • Maintain organized drawing files and version control.

  • Provide as-built drawings upon project completion.

Field & Team Collaboration

  • Communicate with project managers and site supervisors to resolve drawing discrepancies.

  • Visit job sites as needed to verify dimensions and conditions.

  • Support client meetings by preparing presentation drawings or revisions.

  • Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, and detail drawings.

  • Convert sketches, markups, and verbal instructions into technical drawings.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate’s degree in Drafting, Architectural Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2+ years of drafting experience in residential or light commercial construction (preferred).

  • Proven experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, or similar platforms.

  • Familiarity with construction processes and civil engineering drawings.

  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into detailed schematics.

  • Experience with SketchUp, NavisWorks, CAD and Revit, or other modeling tools is highly desirable.

  • Skilled in creating clear 2D drawings as well as basic 3D models for visualization purposes.

  • Excellent attention to detail combined with strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.

  • In office position - hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 1 hour lunch.
