Job description

Summary

Our client is a well-established, highly respected residential custom home general contractor with a strong reputation for quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and delivering exceptional construction projects. Their work encompasses high-end custom residential construction and remodeling, where quality, precision, and professionalism are paramount.
They are currently seeking a highly skilled, well-rounded Residential Journeyman / Craftsman to join their team for an immediate high-end custom home project in the Lake Tahoe, NV area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned construction professional who can do far more than just one aspect of residential construction. The ideal candidate is a true all-around craftsman with hands-on experience across multiple phases of high-end residential construction, including demolition, drywall, flooring, tile and stone, cabinetry, trim carpentry, crown molding, painting, and general finish work.
The successful candidate will take genuine pride in their workmanship, have an exceptional eye for detail, and be capable of working independently while maintaining the high standards expected on luxury custom homes.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform a broad range of skilled residential construction and remodeling tasks from demolition through final finish work.
  • Perform selective demolition, removal, preparation, and job-site cleanup as required.
  • Install and repair tile and natural stone, including floors, walls, backsplashes, showers, and other detailed applications.
  • Perform various types of flooring installation, including hardwood, engineered wood, luxury vinyl, laminate, and other residential flooring materials.
  • Install, repair, and finish drywall, including hanging, patching, taping, mudding, sanding, and preparing surfaces for paint.
  • Perform detailed finish carpentry, including baseboards, casing, crown molding, wainscoting, paneling, built-ins, and other architectural trim.
  • Install and adjust cabinets, vanities, shelving, doors, hardware, and other finish components.
  • Perform cabinet and trim modifications, scribing, fitting, leveling, and detailed adjustments to achieve a precise finished product.
  • Perform interior and exterior painting, staining, caulking, touch-ups, and surface preparation as needed.
  • Complete punch-list items and address deficiencies with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, measurements, and project details.
  • Accurately measure, lay out, cut, fit, install, and finish a variety of construction materials.
  • Identify field conditions or construction issues and determine appropriate solutions while maintaining project quality.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and other members of the construction team.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the project.
  • Properly protect completed work, finished surfaces, fixtures, and homeowner property.
  • Safely operate a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and applicable OSHA and job-site requirements.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic while representing the company on high-end residential projects.
  • Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining the level of craftsmanship expected on luxury custom homes.
Qualification & Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional residential construction experience, with significant hands-on experience in high-end custom homes, luxury remodeling, or similarly detailed residential construction.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Journeyman-level carpenter, craftsman, or well-rounded residential construction professional.
  • Strong, hands-on experience across multiple residential trades—not simply one specialty.
  • Proven experience with several of the following:
    • Demolition and remodeling
    • Framing & Finish carpentry
    • Trim and crown molding
    • Cabinet installation and modification
    • Doors and hardware
    • Tile installation
    • Natural stone installation
    • Hardwood and other flooring installation
    • Painting and staining
    • Caulking and detailed finish work
    • General residential repairs and punch-list completion
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods, sequencing, materials, and finish standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, and construction details.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to accurately measure, lay out, cut, fit, install, and finish materials.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues in the field without constant supervision.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a construction team.
  • Professional communication skills and a customer-service-oriented attitude, particularly when working in high-end or occupied residences.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Personal truck suitable for transporting tools and materials is highly preferred.
  • Own, well-maintained set of professional hand and power tools is highly preferred.
  • Ability to safely lift and move construction materials and perform physically demanding work throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work on ladders, elevated surfaces, uneven terrain, and active construction sites.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and committed to completing work on schedule.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus but not required.
  • Experience working on Lake Tahoe, luxury resort, custom-home, or mountain residential projects is a strong plus.
  • Local candidates in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area are strongly preferred due to the immediate nature of the project.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a true residential craftsman—someone who doesn't need to be handed a narrowly defined list of tasks every morning. They can walk onto a custom-home project, understand what needs to be done, solve problems in the field, and execute a variety of construction and finish-work assignments with minimal supervision.
Most importantly, this individual takes pride in craftsmanship. They understand that on a high-end custom home, the quality of the details matters just as much as the overall construction, and they consistently deliver clean, precise, professional work.
