Project Estimator – Custom Wood & Metal Fabrication
Full-Time | East Village, San Diego | $75,000–$90,000 + Benefits

Basile Studio is a full-service design/build firm known for bold, detail-heavy work in restaurants, hotels, and retail spaces. We build custom furniture, metalwork, millwork, lighting — and we need an estimator who understands how it all comes together.

You’ll work in-office (not on jobsites) with our design and shop teams to create clean, accurate estimates for high-end, custom fabrication projects. If you know your way around shop drawings, tools, and takeoffs, this could be your next great move.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Fabrication Project Estimation

      • Analyzing project specification and utilizing assembly operations - estimate the material, labor and overhead cost for fabrication for all components and overall build.

      • Collaborate with all departments to understand project requirements and deadlines and to keep your estimates within the client budget.

      • Study previous projects data and define and document improved process for estimation.

      • Document timing for high level and detailed estimates.

      • Build and maintain a cost database that will allow for quicker estimating.

      • Work with engineering team to develop new and more efficient processes.

      • Establish standards for Engineering and Fabrication departments that reduce hours and consolidate materials for as many processes as possible.

      • Work with the Project Engineer and client to reduce costs at the early/design stage and work with engineers at the design pass off to remove waste and augment build procedures.

      • Identify out of budget items and communicate internally for process fixes to bring items back into budget.

      • Identify and resolve roadblocks and delays in a timely manner and communicate accordingly.

  • Qualification Requirements

    • 5+ Years of experience in building construction and fabrication both metal and wood

    • Ability to read and understand blueprints/shop drawings

    • Experience with budgeting

    • Understanding of fabrication equipment, processes and materials

    • Ability to handle multiple projects at once

    • Strong organization and process skills

    • Data analysis and critical thinking

  • Bonus Requirements

    • Detail-oriented - You love to find issues before they become issues

    • Effective communication - You bring people together to solve a problem

    • Technical skills - You prefer spreadsheets to notepads

  • Job Type

    • This is a full-time position.
