Work Shift

Inpatient Core Faculty

Wellstar Health System is seeking a dedicated board-certified academic internist to join the inpatient core faculty of our newly accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program at Wellstar Paulding Medical Center in Hiram, GA. The program will welcome our inaugural class of 10 interns in July 2027.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a clinician-educator who is passionate about resident teaching, curriculum development, outpatient supervision, quality improvement, and advancing internal medicine education within a collaborative community-based academic setting.

Position Structure

This is a full-time 1.0 FTE Inpatient GME Core Faculty position.

Appropriate protected non-clinical time will be provided for duties including resident education, curriculum development, faculty development, accreditation support, and scholarly activity. Additional time may be allocated for specific academic activities at the discretion of the program and aligned with institutional priorities.

Position Highlights

Inpatient core faculty role
Primary responsibility includes inpatient supervision and teaching of Internal Medicine residents, including assessment, evaluation, and serving on the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC)
Provide clinical instruction while modeling professionalism and high-value, evidence-based patient care
Deliver didactic lectures and participate in conferences and clinical case discussions
Actively support resident growth, wellness, and scholarly development
Contribute to curriculum development and ongoing program improvement including serving on the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC)
Engage in scholarly activity, including research, quality improvement initiatives, or participation in regional and national professional societies
Reports directly to the Internal Medicine Program Director

Qualifications

Board Certified in Internal Medicine (Board Eligible candidates will be considered if recently trained)
Interest in medical education and resident development
Prior GME experience preferred, though not required
