Brightpoint Community College invites applications for an
Electrical Associate Instructor to provide high-quality, lab-intensive instruction in electrical systems and related occupational coursework. This position is classified as a teaching-focused role. The instructional load for this position is 24-30 credits per academic year (fall and spring), not to exceed 720 contact hours per academic year. Teaching assignments will include electrical lecture and lab courses delivered in face-to-face, hybrid, and online (synchronous or asynchronous) formats, as appropriate. Classes may be scheduled during day, evening, and weekend hours and will be based at the Chester campus.
Candidate should be able to:
- Deliver classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in electrical theory, wiring methods, motor controls, industrial electricity, and related coursework.
- Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, lab activities, and assessments aligned with industry standards and program learning outcomes.
- Integrate safety standards, National Electrical Code fundamentals, and industry best practices into all instruction.
- Assess student learning using a variety of evaluation methods, maintain accurate academic records, and participate in program-level assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain lab equipment, instructional materials, inventory control, and safety compliance to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
- Develop and sustain partnerships with regional employers to ensure curriculum alignment, support internships and apprenticeships, and promote job placement.
- Support student recruitment and outreach efforts for the electrical program.
- Participate in college service activities, including committees and community engagement.
- Prepare students for relevant industry certifications or licensure examinations aligned with program outcomes.
- Pursue ongoing professional development to remain current in electrical technologies, codes, and instructional practices.
Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required QualificationsREQUIRED:- Associate or Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of five years of documented industry experience in electrical systems, industrial maintenance, machining, or a closely related technical field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical safety standards, industry codes, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to teach theoretical concepts and applied laboratory skills in a hands-on instructional environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of instructional technologies to support face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, written, and oral communication skills. Commitment to the community college mission, serving diverse student populations, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Willingness to adopt and teach emerging technologies aligned with industry trends.
- Prior teaching or training experience at the postsecondary, apprenticeship, or workforce development level.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
