ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

JOB POSITION: Student Office Assistant

DEPARTMENT: MEP - WiSE - College of Engineering

DATE Available: Immediately

ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality 1500 management, leadership or research grants, this student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.

The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.

SUMMARY: The Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently searching for six (6) Office Assistants for the 2026-2027 academic year. Office Assistants will support the program operational needs in the Maximizing Engineering Potential, Women in Science and Engineering (MEP-WiSE). This position is funded by the Kellogg Legacy Project Endowment, under the direction of Dr. Lily Gossage, MEP-WiSE Director.

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • Attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings
  • Support general office and clerical duties, including phone calls, typing, filing and deliveries
  • Maintain MEP-WiSE spaces, including student tutoring rooms and offices
  • Assist with events/workshops in outreach, preparation, implementation, including event set up/tear down.
  • Create MEP-WiSE promotional materials, including information cards, digital posters and swag items
  • Serve as peer mentors and student leaders for the MEP-WiSE Peer Mentoring program
  • Other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a current Cal Poly Pomona undergraduate student pursuing a STEM degree
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (Cal Poly Pomona and overall)
  • Currently enrolled for a minimum 6.0 units (undergraduate) or 4.0 units (graduate)
  • Experience working with students from different majors, cultures and backgrounds.
