What does a culinary arts intern do?

A Culinary Arts Intern assists professional chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation, cooking, and plating in a restaurant or culinary establishment. Interns learn essential kitchen skills, food safety practices, and proper techniques for handling ingredients. They may also help with inventory, cleaning, and organizing the kitchen, gaining hands-on experience that prepares them for a career in the culinary industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a culinary arts intern?

To thrive as a Culinary Arts Intern, you need a basic understanding of food preparation, kitchen safety, and sanitation, often gained through culinary school coursework or relevant experience. As a Culinary Arts Intern, you can expect a wide range of hands-on experiences, including assisting with food preparation, learning proper kitchen safety and sanitation practices, and supporting chefs during service.
