Assistant Principal/CTE and Test Coordinator
Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services.Under the supervision of the campus principal, coordinates and supervises the District's secondary Career and Technology Education program and the administration of high school state and federal assessments.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree
Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
Holds applicable appraisal system certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of campus operations
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Knowledge career and technology education curriculum and instruction
Ability to plan and manage budget
Ability to interpret data and evaluate CTE instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Knowledge of federal and state codes governing CTE
Knowledge of Texas assessment requirements and CCMR criteria
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
- Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs.
- Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.

Personnel Management

Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
- Supervise operations in principal's absence.
- Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
- Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with the attendance clerk on follow-up investigations.
- Work with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.
- Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts for materials.
- Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice activities.
- Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
- Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and Board policy.
Student Management
- Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
- Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
- Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
School/Community Relations
- Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing its mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
CTE Program Coordination
27. Coordinate the District CTE services to meet students' needs and improve District CCMR outcomes.
28. Ensure student progress is evaluated on a regular, systemic basis, and the findings are used to make the CTE programs more effective.
29. Coordinate the planning and conducting of periodic needs assessments related to course selection offering for the CTE programs.
30. Demonstrate knowledge of CCMR and Accountability measures impacted by CTE programs.
40. Collaborate with high school Academic Advisor to provide career planning assessments, activities and programs.
41. Support campus administrators in planning, developing, and evaluating, CTE staff development to ensure best practices focusing on district and state goals.
42. Ensure that CTE teachers have the necessary training and materials to improve participation and earning of student certifications.
43. Maintain high visibility, accountability and accessibility by regular, frequent visits to each CTE classroom.
44. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to interpret PEIMS data and supervise the accuracy of PEIMS reports for the CTE program. Aide in assigning PEIMS coding for grades 7-12.
45. Administer the Perkins' grant, and campus CTE funds (if directed), to ensure that programs are cost effective and that funds are managed prudently and in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines.
46. Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment and recommend disposal and replacement of equipment as necessary.
47. Work to participate with community groups, business leaders, and industry to create, maintain, and sustain partnerships to support CTE programs and to meet the needs of the community stakeholders.
48. Foster goodwill through coordination of partnerships and recognition with the business, industry, and community partners and serve as a liaison for the district.
49. Stay current on industry recognized certification programs and work with staff to ensure students are prepared to successfully take any end of year industry recognized certification tests.
Campus Test Coordination
50. Responsible for the organization, implementation, verification, collection and distribution of materials for all state/federal assessments.
51. Adhere to all test security, confidentiality and administration procedures and testing deadlines.
52. Verify accuracy of student information submitted for testing including demographic data and allowable accommodations.
53. Oversee the implementation of TSIA2, ACT/SAT, ASVAB and other state/federal assessments administered at the high school level.
54. Plan, organize and deliver all required training for state/federal assessment administrations in accordance with test procedures.
55. Assist with investigating and preparing reports for reported test irregularities.
56. Attend all assessment training as directed by campus principal and District Test Coordinator.
57. Ensure routine cycle of communication of testing information between campus personnel, Special Education staff, LPAC members, 504 members, RtI committees on testing program requirements.
58. Provide access to student assessment results to key campus and District personnel.
59. Ensure compliance with all campus testing documentation and document retention.
60. Alternative methods of performing duties.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate the work of professional staff as assigned by the school principal. Direct the work of teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:

Education
- Bachelor's and Masters Degree from an accredited college or university required; Master's Degree in Educational Administration preferred.
Experience
- Three years experience as a classroom teacher.
- Two years experience in instructional leadership role.
- Successful experience as a campus administrator preferred.
