Position Summary
As the Library Access Services Coordinator, you will be the driving force behind our daily circulation operations. You will oversee all activities related to the circulation of library materials, manage the work for our dedicated team of circulation staff and volunteers, handle routine administrative procedures, assist with technology troubleshooting, and resolve patron inquiries with grace and empathy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Train, schedule, and coordinate the work for our Library Circulation Clerks, Pages, volunteers, and community service workers.
  • Circulation Management: Oversee the full range of desk procedures using our automated system; act as the staff authority on circulation policies and consortium-related business.
  • Patron & Tech Support: Answer questions, resolve complaints, and provide friendly basic reference and reader assistance. Help patrons navigate public computers, printing, scanning, and mobile apps/tablets.
  • Operations & Creativity: Manage Interlibrary Loans, state library service center materials, and overdue notifications. Help keep our space inspiring by preparing vibrant book and media displays.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field, accompanied by appropriate library experience.
  • Experience: Prior supervisory and customer service experience is required. Familiarity with Polaris ILS, Cassie, and Vega Discover is highly preferred!
  • Skills: Strong multitasking, organizational, and interpersonal skills. You should have a solid grasp of public library practices and a comfort level troubleshooting everyday tech (smartphones, e-readers, streaming platforms).
Physical & Mental Demands (Snapshot)
  • Physical: Must be able to stand/walk for prolonged periods, lift up to 20 pounds, possess the manual dexterity for typing/filing, and assist with setting up tables and chairs for community events.
  • Mental: Requires the ability to stay focused through interruptions, manage and prioritize workflows for yourself and others, handle confidential info with care, and problem-solve creatively.
  • Environment: A bustling, vibrant library office environment with varying noise levels based on community activity.

Rate of Pay as of July 1, 2026: $ 30.25 per hour
