Job description

Surgical Technologist Extern

Assists the surgical team during the operative procedure. This person, under the guidance and direct supervision of the registered nurse and the certified surgical technologist, is responsible for the care and safety of the patients that come under his/her care. Assists with patient care by management of resources on the sterile field. The position allows the surgical tech extern the opportunity to experience hands on work experience, while assisting with patient care by management of resources on the sterile field through delegation of specific tasks and procedures within the realm of the extern duties. Qualifications: surgical technologist student in a CST program and have completed the first year of the program including the skills practicum within the course curriculum.
