Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:
  • On a medium sized job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Deputy Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section

Leadership/Supervision

  • Proactively engages with their teams' development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
  • Supervises a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.

Work Planning & Packaging

  • Coordinates with design on constructability issues.

Material Management

  • Directs the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment.

Quantities

  • Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.

Safety / Quality Control

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

System Turnover Coordinator

For Direct Hire

  • Possesses responsibility for coordinating between construction and startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the startup specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.

STR / Subcontract Coordinator

  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans
  • Supervises reviews of subcontractor submittals

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requiredbachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Owns field engineering execution for CSA scope-expert knowledge of earthwork, foundations, concrete, rebar, embeds, structural steel, and architectural interfaces; ensures work is buildable and compliant.
  • Leads the CSA field engineering team-assigns scope, sets technical standards, reviews work products, and develops field engineers to consistent quality and pace.
  • Drives CSA readiness and AWP-ensures IFC drawings, quantities, embeds, anchor bolts, materials, inspections, and access are ready to support IWPs and superintendent plans.
  • Controls quantities, quality, and progress-verifies layout and installations, supports progress measurement, resolves NCRs, and prevents rework.
  • Primary technical interface for CSA-coordinates with engineering, construction, survey, QC, and other disciplines; escalates systemic risks early and clearly.
