CSA (Civil, Structural, and Architectural) Engineer

Location: Glastonbury, CT

Employment Type: Full-Time, In-person

Timing: Immediate


Position Summary

The CSA Engineer is responsible for the civil, structural, and architectural project support of multi-million-dollar power generation facilities or other types of industrial projects. In this role, you will review the Engineer of Record’s (EOR) documents & drawings for the jobsite, including specifications, state & local building codes, vendor drawings, and geotechnical reports. You will also work closely with the project team in proposal development, particularly in civil & structural areas, and participate in customer meetings & presentations.


Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in the power generation industry or with an EPC, or familiarity with large-scale/industrial construction. We are seeking someone with a strong work ethic & attention to detail, the ability to work independently or in a group to meet deadlines, and effective communication skills.


Job Responsibilities

  • Review isometric drawings and specifications from vendors.
  • Review geotechnical reports and EOR documents and drawings.
  • Support project site teams with Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Review subcontractor design and shop drawings.
  • Identify discrepancies in scope of work, contract, plans, or specifications and obtain resolution.
  • Document change order requests.
  • Review order forms for equipment such as pipes, valves, etc.
  • Support proposal efforts in civil design and quantities.
  • Perform quantitative tracking and report work progress weekly with Project Controls team.
  • Ensure federal, state, and local compliance codes, compliance of drawings, and permit drawings.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural, or Environmental Engineering, or a similar field.
  • 2+ years of experience in thermal energy (combined-cycle or simple-cycle) power plant construction, or other large-scale industrial projects.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Proficient with standard computer programs, particularly Microsoft Excel and Adobe PDF.
  • Effective prioritization & independent problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Punctual & reliable with a commitment to daily attendance.
  • Must be self-driven and adaptable to quickly changing circumstances.
  • Occasional travel to project sites and to meet with vendors required (~10%).
