Job description

The Transport Libraries team within AWS Cryptography builds and maintains open-source TLS and QUIC libraries (s2n-tls, s2n-quic) that protect data in transit across all of AWS. We're looking for an experienced software developer passionate about practical cryptography, open source, and building at scale. You'll work on post-quantum cryptography, leverage GenAI to accelerate secure transitions, and help ensure every byte moving in and out of the cloud is protected. If you're excited about implementing cryptography that secures millions of connections and want to contribute to some of the most security-critical open-source libraries in the industry, we'd love to talk.
Key job responsibilities
Own the full software development lifecycle - defining, prioritizing, designing, building, and testing new features for AWS Cryptography.
Deliver foundational cryptographic libraries integrated across all AWS front-door services.
Engage internal and external customers to identify gaps in data-in-transit protection and translate those into new features and products.
Build solutions at scale to protect cloud workloads against "harvest now, decrypt later" (HNDL) threats.
Leverage GenAI technologies to safely and efficiently transition AWS services to post-quantum cryptography.
About the team
- Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (diversity) conferences. Amazon's culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 16 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.
- Our team puts a high value on work-live balance. It isn't about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it's about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.
- Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
