What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Creature Design position, and why are they important?

Succeeding in Creature Design requires strong drawing and sculpting abilities, a solid understanding of anatomy across species, and a portfolio showcasing imaginative yet believable creature concepts. Familiarity with digital art tools such as Adobe Photoshop, ZBrush, or Blender—along with experience in 2D/3D concept rendering—is often necessary. Creative problem-solving, strong communication skills, and the ability to incorporate feedback help designers excel in collaborative environments. These competencies ensure designs meet both artistic and production needs while pushing creative boundaries in entertainment or scientific visualization.

What does a typical project workflow look like for a Creature Designer?

A typical workflow for a Creature Designer starts with researching references and brainstorming initial ideas, followed by rough sketching and concept iterations. The designer collaborates closely with art directors, writers, and 3D modelers to refine concepts based on feedback and project requirements. Once a design is approved, they may create detailed turnarounds, color studies, or 3D models to guide the production team. This collaborative and iterative process ensures the final creature designs align with the project's vision and technical requirements while allowing the designer to showcase their creativity and adaptability.

What is a Creature Design job?

A Creature Design job involves designing and developing original creatures for films, video games, animation, and other media. Creature designers blend anatomy, biology, and imagination to create believable and visually compelling beings that fit within a story's world. Industrialized Construction Engineer

Job description

Industrialized Construction Engineer

Build the future of building.
Creature is developing an integrated platform to transform how buildings are designed, manufactured, and assembled. As an IndustrializedConstruction Engineer, you will serve as a critical link between our manufacturing operations and field execution-ensuring that every prefabricated component we produce is optimized for precision, scalability, and seamless installation.

This role is ideal for a detail-driven engineer with a manufacturing mindset-especially from aviation, precision assembly, or other industrial environments-who wants to apply those standards to the built environment.

What You'll Do

Bridge Design & Build

  • Translate design intent into field-ready processes by coordinating across manufacturing, field, and project delivery teams.

Optimize Processes

  • Develop, document, and continuously improve work instructions and standard operating procedures for modular construction workflows.

Advance Prefabrication

  • Support engineering strategies for prefabricated systems (walls, MEP assemblies, etc.) and drive manufacturability throughout the design-build cycle.

Support Production Systems

  • Use Procore, PowerBI, and cost/quantity tracking to monitor production health, install rates, and productivity metrics.

Run the Field Feedback Loop

  • Partner with install teams and superintendents to surface real-world constraints and implement upstream improvements.

Drive Lean Principles

  • Identify waste, propose countermeasures, and contribute to Creature's evolving modular playbook.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Operations Engineering
  • Some exposure to a manufacturing or precision assembly environment (aviation preferred)
  • Familiarity with CAD, Revit, Procore, or equivalent digital tools
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and shop documentation
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfort with iteration, feedback, and fast-moving systems

Who Thrives Here

  • A systems thinker who sees connections between design, process, and build
  • Someone who prefers solving upstream over firefighting downstream
  • A communicator who values clarity, accountability, and iteration
  • An engineer who wants to help build a platform-not just a project

Why Creature

Creature is collapsing the traditional silos of architecture, engineering, and construction into a unified Design-Manufacture-Construct platform. We're here to deliver better buildings, faster-and create a workplace defined by craft, clarity, and growth.

If you're ready to help reimagine how things get built, we'd love to meet you.
