Creative Temp information

What is a creative temp?

Creative Temps are professionals hired on a temporary basis to fulfill creative roles within organizations, such as graphic design, copywriting, video editing, or marketing. These individuals often work on short-term projects, seasonal campaigns, or to fill gaps during staff absences. Creative Temps bring specialized skills and fresh perspectives to teams, helping companies meet deadlines and achieve their creative goals without long-term commitments. Their flexibility and expertise make them valuable assets for agencies, in-house creative departments, and businesses experiencing fluctuating workloads.

What types of projects do creative temps typically work on, and how does project variety impact daily responsibilities?

Creative Temps often handle a wide range of projects, such as graphic design, copywriting, social media content, or marketing campaigns, depending on the organization's needs. The variety means your daily responsibilities can change frequently, offering opportunities to develop new skills and adapt to different creative briefs and brand guidelines. This dynamic environment can be both exciting and challenging, requiring flexibility, strong time management, and the ability to quickly grasp new concepts. Collaboration with full-time staff and other temps is common, so strong communication skills are essential to ensure smooth workflow and alignment with project goals.

What is the difference between Creative Temp vs Creative Assistant?

The main difference between a Creative Temp and a Creative Assistant lies in their employment status and scope. Creative Temps are temporary workers filling short-term needs, while Creative Assistants are more permanent team members supporting ongoing projects. Both roles require relevant skills and experience, but their employment arrangements and responsibilities differ.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative temp, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Temp, you need a solid foundation in design principles, creative problem-solving, and experience with relevant creative projects, often backed by a degree in art, design, or a related field. Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and project management platforms is typically expected. Strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to quickly integrate into new teams help set top candidates apart. These skills ensure you can deliver high-quality creative work on tight deadlines while collaborating effectively in diverse, fast-paced environments.

Senior Brand Writer (Temp-to-Hire)

Armada

$55 - $68/hr

Full-time, Temporary

Job description

About the Roleย ย

Armada is looking for a Senior Brand Writer to shape how the company sounds across every surface where words matter. Reporting to the Head of Communications, this is a craft role for someone who can write a five-word headline that lands, then turn around and write a thousand words ofย balanced, on-brandย product copy. You will own the voice of the brand and partner closely with creative, product, and executive leadership to bring it to life.ย

The ideal candidateย echoes Armada'sย quiet confidence. Restraint over flourish. Specificity over abstraction. A point of view thatย doesn'tย need to raise its voice.ย ย
You understand intuitively what separates real writing fromย AI-generatedย content. ย

This role is a true generalist. You can quickly pivot from web copy for a new product launch to a social post. You will go deep on our products, learn the technical substance, and translate it into words that customers, partners, and prospects want to stop and read.

Above all, youย know how to find the human story inside a complexย product. Our customers are people solving hard problems in hard places, and their pain points are whatย bringย our products to life on the page.ย ย

Please note that this role is a temp-to-hire position. Strong performers will be considered for full-time placement at the end of the contract period. This role is eligible for overtime.

Location: This role is office-based in our Bellevue, WA or San Francisco, CA locations, or remote in Los Angeles, CA.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)ย

  • Writeย razor-sharpย headlines, taglines, and brand-level copy that define how Armada shows up in the worldย
  • Develop long-form product narratives, web copy, and marketing collateral that translate complex edge computing and AI infrastructure into clear, compelling storiesย
  • Shape theย narrativeย ofย sales and investor decksย
  • Draft press releases, executive communications, andย otherย earnedย media materials in support of Armada's communications strategyย
  • Support social channels with original writing thatย maintainsย brand voice across formatsย
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to ensure copy and design are developed in lockstep, not as separate handoffsย
  • Develop andย maintainย Armada'sย brandย identity, and help others across the company write in our voiceย

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years ofย copyย writingย experience in brand, marketing, editorial, or agency settingsย
  • Exceptional portfolioย demonstratingย range across headlines, long-form product copy, decks, and editorial writingย
  • Sharp instinct for what to cut. You know when one word does the work of fiveย
  • A clear point of view on whatย good writingย is, paired with the humility to take feedback and make it betterย
  • An excellent listener who can absorb raw input from stakeholders and shape it into a story with a clear through-lineย
  • Range. You can shift registers when the brand or the moment calls for it. A product launch, a recruiting page, and a field deployment story shouldย all read differentlyย
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple writing projects simultaneouslyย

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degreeย or equivalent experienceย inย journalism,ย communications, or a related fieldย
  • Experience on both sides of the table: time spent at an advertising or branding agency, paired with in-house workย at a technology companyย
  • Experience writing for technical or deep-tech companies (infrastructure, defense, hardware, AI)ย
  • Experience collaborating directly with executives on speeches, op-eds, or thought leadershipย
  • Familiarity with using AI tools as a drafting and research aid, whileย maintainingย a clear line between machine output and finished writingย

Compensation & Benefits

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the startingย base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.

We use a geographic pay structure based on cost-of-labor markets.ย

  • Tier 1 (e.g., SF Bay Area, NYC, Seattle): $63 - $79 hourly
  • Tier 2 (most U.S. metro areas): $55 - $68 hourly
  • Tier 3 (other cities): $52- $65 hourly
