About Us
Sparks is a global brand experience agency that designs and produces trade show exhibits, corporate events, brand activations, and immersive experiences for major brands. They focus on helping companies build real human connection through creative, strategic, and memorable experiences. Sparks recently joined Freeman, but they still operate with their own team, culture, and creative approach.
Summary
The Creative Director is an integral member of the design staff, providing unique and creative environmental designs for our clients. The role requires the ability to lead projects, collaborate with colleagues and participate in client communication.
This position will support our Creative team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week. The ideal candidate will be based out of any of the following locations:
  • Detroit, MI
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Cleveland, OH
  • Dallas, TX

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop design visuals of your concepts via 3D modeling, concept sketching, floor plan/space development, presentation layouts, and control drawings.
  • Share design information with Graphic designers, Estimators, Engineers and Production Managers quickly and efficiently.
  • Effectively manage a team of unique individuals under constantly changing circumstances.
  • Demonstrate solid design sense and flexibility through each project.
  • Clearly and professionally present ideas to colleagues, partners and clients.
  • Receive design direction from partners, clients, sales representatives and design management.
  • Operate effectively under time constraints and meet deadlines.
  • Have a working knowledge of materials, technologies, construction techniques and event production.
  • Understanding of budgetary constraints and how to provide concepts that are within budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite software, 3D Studio Max, V-Ray, ACad or similar CAD software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Education in one of the following: architecture, environmental design, retail design, interior design, industrial design, exhibit design or experiential. design
  • Experience is helpful but not as important as creativity, intelligence and the right attitude.

Preferred Skills:
  • Proficient in Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a team player.
  • Ability to operate within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
