Creative Retail and Visual Merchandiser roles both focus on visual presentation and branding within retail environments. Creative Retail often encompasses broader marketing and branding strategies, while Visual Merchandisers specifically design in-store displays and layouts. Both require creative skills and industry experience, but Creative Retail may involve more strategic planning, whereas Visual Merchandisers focus on visual execution.

How does a Creative Retail professional typically collaborate with other departments to enhance the in-store customer experience?

Creative Retail professionals frequently work alongside marketing, merchandising, and store operations teams to develop visually engaging displays and interactive experiences that align with brand messaging. They participate in regular planning meetings to ensure design concepts are feasible and support promotional campaigns. This cross-functional collaboration helps ensure that creative ideas are both practical and impactful, resulting in cohesive in-store presentations that drive customer engagement and sales.

What is a Creative Retail professional?

A Creative Retail professional is someone who combines creativity with retail expertise to enhance the shopping experience, develop engaging store layouts, and design innovative marketing and visual merchandising strategies. They are responsible for making retail spaces visually appealing, creating brand stories, and attracting customers through unique displays and promotional concepts. Their work is essential in differentiating brands in a competitive market and driving sales by connecting emotionally with shoppers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Creative Retail professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Retail Professional, you need a strong background in visual merchandising, sales strategies, and customer service, often supported by experience in retail or a related field. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and digital design tools like Adobe Creative Suite is commonly required. Creative thinking, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal communication help you design engaging displays and connect with customers. These skills drive sales, enhance the customer experience, and contribute to a store’s overall brand image and success.

Job description

Human Interface, Product Creative is responsible for the brand expression and visual experience across Meta's wearables portfolio - from Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to Meta Display glasses and our future product roadmap. Drive the overarching creative direction for Meta Wearables across meta.com, including campaign retail experiences, new user experiences, and brand system direction

• Portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft, range across mediums, and a clear creative point of view
• Demonstrated experience leading creative direction across multidisciplinary teams and identifying visual design opportunities that elevate product experiences and brand expression
• Demonstrated experience in owning creative direction for production workflows (photo/video/3D renders), including working with agencies, freelancers, and external partners to deliver high-quality outputs at scale
• Experience working across various styles and mediums - photography/art direction, motion/animation, and interaction design - weaving them together into holistic solutions
• Strong knowledge of design principles related to design systems and brand, and how they inform UX, UI, communication hierarchy, information architecture, and user flows
• Track record of operating independently, demonstrating creative leadership, maintaining attention to detail, and delivering results in a highly organized manner
• Effective communication and presentation skills, with experience articulating complex or abstract concepts clearly and persuasively - able to explain the reasoning behind decisions, open to being wrong, and able to represent a point of view with conviction
Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced environments requiring the management of many dependencies, independent time management, task prioritization, and flexibility
• Experience mentoring and elevating the craft of other designers, with a track record of raising the quality bar for teams
• Experience using AI tooling to support concept generation, ideation, and scaled image generation asset pipelines
