Job description

8 News NOW - KLAS is looking for a creative and energetic person to fill the position of Creative Producer. This is a fun and challenging role that requires hands-on experience in BOTH broadcast marketing and promotions as well as commercial production. You'll work alongside our news director and experienced producers, editors, and writers assisting in the process to create effective promos from concept to air. You will also work independently with clients, serving as creative script writer, videographer, director, editor and graphic designer to help tell their unique stories. Occasionally, you will have a role in our daily lifestyle show, known as Las Vegas Now, shooting and editing long form segments.

The ideal candidate is a versatile, hands-on creative with the ability to shoot, write, and edit. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously while elevating and maintaining the look, feel, and voice of a legacy brand.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in station marketing meetings and contribute creative ideas and assist in the creative process from concept to completion; sometimes working alongside in-house talent and videographers and sometimes working through our promotion's hub
  • Help lead television station branding and promotional initiatives in the community
  • Work on independent commercial production projects for clients
  • Write, shoot and edit News, marketing, CBS network and special projects
  • Meet directly with clients and work closely with a sales team to develop strong, professional relationships
  • Direct the on-camera performances of clients, professional actors, and News talent as needed
  • Organize and coordinate shoots with talent agencies and businesses
  • Act as station photographer and create collateral for publications when requested
  • Be the liaison between our station and Nexstar's corporate production and graphics hub. You will provide them with all essential elements including but not limited to video footage, logos, project vision/direction, timelines, and more
  • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in writing, shooting, editing, and lighting, photography and graphic design a plus
  • Have advanced knowledge of the post-production process, including media management, and encoding video to various formats
  • Exhibit advanced editing expertise in Adobe Creative cloud, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition and Media Encoder
  • Knowledge of Sony FX 30 camera or similar a plus
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record is a must
  • Attention to detail and strong personal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a team
  • Ability to find solutions when the process is challenged
  • Must have exceptional creativity, combined with a flexibility, and a get it done mentality
  • Must be able to lift, set up, and operate equipment up to 25 lbs

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The Commercial Producer must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Commercial Producer must be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
