Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The position will direct the Bass Pro Shops internal team and external agencies in their execution of all broad-reach media programs/platforms to ensure that costs are within Bass Pro Shops Group planning guidelines and below industry averages. This Marketing Manager will establish long-term and short-term strategies to maximize the return on the entire organization's media investments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversee all activities of broadcast, print, and out-of-home media planning/buying function; set standards of excellence, ensure deliverables and appropriate communications
  • Direct the development, presentation, and maintenance of all media plans, including objective/strategies, strategic initiatives, updates, and POV's on opportunistic proposals
  • Present plans to organization and lead strategic planning initiatives
  • Interact with buying groups (agencies) and ensure that buying implementation is in alignment with media plans - manage all external resources (creative & planning/buying)
  • Execute all media added-value programs and integrations, working in conjunction with network partners
  • Collaborate with Brand Marketing Teams on media placement for proprietary brand initiatives
  • Negotiate and manage contract process for TV sponsorship properties in outdoor verticals
  • Foster and maintain strong media market relationships for local spot buys and with national cable network partners
  • Develop system of back-end accountabilities, measurements, and effectiveness standards to drive continuous improvements and optimization of all media buys
  • Manage budgets, oversee billing issues in liaison with internal accounting groups
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Mass Media, or Communications
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years media planning experience in agency or client environment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Superb leadership skills and proven ability to manage and motivate teams
  • Detail-oriented, excellent follow through, ability to multitask, manage projects and workflow, and work well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access

  • Regularly performs computer work and sits.
  • Occasionally walks and stands.
  • Seldom/never lifts up to 50lbs.

Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
