Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce, 

Location: Lee's Summit, Missouri (In Person)

Term: Fall 2026 (September–December; flexible based on school schedule)

Schedule: Full-time or Part-time (depending on experience, availability and interest)

Compensation: $15/hour

Through signature events, educational programming and community engagement, the Chamber serves as a leading voice for business in Lee's Summit.


Position Summary

The Lee's Summit Chamber is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and detail-oriented Marketing & Communications Intern to join our team for Fall 2026. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, event promotion, digital communications and community engagement.

The intern will work alongside the Director of Marketing & Communications to help execute marketing initiatives, create engaging content and support several of the Chamber's largest events of the year.


This position is in person at the Lee's Summit Chamber office.


Responsibilities

The Marketing & Communications Intern will assist with:


• Creating content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn 

• Writing and editing newsletters, email campaigns and website content 

• Drafting press releases and media advisories 

• Assisting with photography and video content at Chamber events 

• Developing graphics using Adobe Creative Suite (Canva is also allowed)

• Updating event listings and promotional materials for large-scale events

• Supporting Chamber branding and marketing initiatives 

• Assisting with member spotlights and promotional campaigns 

• Monitoring social media engagement and helping maintain content calendars 


Event Marketing Support

The intern will play an active role in marketing and promoting Chamber events, including:


• Lee's Summit Oktoberfest 

• Women in Business Conference 

• Annual Chamber Holiday Reception 

• Networking events, ribbon cuttings and other Chamber programs 


Responsibilities may include:

• Creating promotional graphics and social media content 

• Assisting with email marketing campaigns 

• Helping with event-day photography and live social media coverage 

• Preparing marketing materials and signage 

• Providing on-site event support as needed 


Preferred Qualifications

• Current college student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design or a related field (preferred) 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills 

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 

• Familiarity with social media platforms and current trends 

• Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or other graphic design tools is a plus 

• Photography and/or video editing experience is a plus 

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team 

• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and strong customer service skills
