What is a creative designer?

A Creative Designer is a professional responsible for developing visual concepts and designs for various media, such as advertisements, branding, websites, and product packaging. They use their artistic skills and knowledge of design software to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers. Creative Designers often work with marketing teams, clients, or art directors to create visually appealing content that aligns with a brand's identity. Their role may involve brainstorming, sketching, creating digital assets, and ensuring that all visuals meet project objectives. They play a key role in shaping the visual aspects of a company's communications.

What is a creative designer?

A creative designer, also known as a graphic designer, is involved with advertising and marketing. Some creative designers are employed directly by an organization while others work for an advertising agency. Another option is to work as a self-employed freelance creative designer. Your main job duties involve creating advertising materials for a company. As a creative designer, you create a rough layout for design projects and follow them through to completion. You use digital illustration software to create the finished products. It is often essential to collaborate with other designers as well as writers, marketers, advertisers, and vendors on the project.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Designer, you need a strong grasp of design principles, proficiency in visual storytelling, and typically a degree in graphic design or a related field. Mastery of tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with digital design platforms are essential. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication help set standout designers apart in collaborative environments. These skills ensure the creation of visually impactful, brand-consistent work that meets client needs and drives project success.

How does a creative designer typically collaborate with other departments during a project?

Creative Designers frequently work closely with marketing, product, and development teams to ensure visual concepts align with overall business goals. They participate in brainstorming sessions, gather input from stakeholders, and adjust designs based on feedback from cross-functional colleagues. This collaborative process helps ensure that creative outputs not only look appealing but also support strategic objectives, meet technical requirements, and resonate with the target audience. Maintaining open communication and adaptability is key for success in these collaborative environments.

What is the difference between Creative Designer vs Graphic Designer?

How much does a creative designer get paid?

The average salary for a creative designer varies by experience and location but typically ranges from $45,000 to $85,000 annually. Entry-level designers may earn less, while experienced professionals with specialized skills or certifications can earn higher salaries, especially in competitive markets or with advanced proficiency in design tools like Adobe Creative Suite.

What qualifications do you need to be a creative designer?

A creative designer typically needs a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field. Strong skills in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, a good portfolio, and creativity are essential; some roles may also require experience or certifications in specific tools or techniques.

Job description

Role

As Creative Director for one of our portfolio companies, you will lead a creative team, videographers, editors, designers, writers, and strategists, and own the content that grows the brand. You will turn the vision into work that performs, not just work that looks good.

The mandate is growth you can measure: scaling the brand's audience across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and podcasts, with a real track record of taking a following into the hundreds of thousands. It is big-picture and hands-on at once. You set the creative direction and you are in the work, giving clear feedback and final sign-off, and adapting fast as platforms and formats shift.

You will partner closely with the executive team and report to the Director of Marketing, keeping every asset on-brand, on-strategy, and on-schedule. We are a fully remote team on a bring-your-own-device model.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the creative team: direct and mentor designers, editors, videographers, and copywriters, and own workflows, standards, and final approval on every asset.

  • Set the creative strategy: partner with executives and brand leadership on vision, goals, and messaging, and maintain the brand guidelines and creative vision.

  • Grow the audience: concept, pitch, and ship campaigns across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and podcasts that move engagement, reach, and subscribers.

  • Run on the data: monitor performance and audience feedback, report on trends, and optimize what you make.

  • Stay ahead: track cultural and digital trends, test new formats and platforms, and keep the brand ahead of the curve.

  • Keep it moving: work with project managers, vendors, and cross-functional teams to hit timelines and unify messaging.

Requirements
  • A creative leader who directs and elevates a multidisciplinary team across video, design, copy, and audio.

  • Fluent in brand strategy: translates vision into clear creative direction and holds the brand consistent.

  • A proven track record of scaling a brand or creator to 500k+ on Instagram and 100k+ on YouTube.

  • Data-driven, using performance and audience signal to sharpen creative decisions.

  • Deep, current fluency across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and podcasts.

  • 3+ years in a senior creative role (Creative Director, Head of Content, or equivalent), with ownership, urgency, and follow-through in a fast-paced remote environment.

Results
  • Content is consistently on-brand and on-strategy.

  • Campaigns drive measurable growth in engagement, reach, and subscribers.

  • The content calendar ships on schedule.

  • The brand stays ahead through steady creative innovation.

  • The creative team runs efficiently, with standards upheld across every project.

Location
  • Remote (fully remote, bring-your-own-device).

Compensation
  • $125,000 to $150,000 salary, dependent on experience.

Benefits:

We offer a comprehensive, evolving benefits package designed to support your health, family, and wellbeing. Some key offerings:

  • Flexible Unlimited Paid Time Off and Company-wide Holidays

  • Employer sponsored Medical, Dental, & Vision plans

    • $1,950 annual Employer HSA contribution

    • FSA options including dependent care

    • Employee assistance program and mental health resources

  • Employer match program for 401(k), eligible for both Traditional and Roth accounts

  • $1,200 annual wellness reimbursement through JOON that supports health, family care, pet care, fitness, and more!

  • For local or visiting team members, enjoy access to a state of the art gym at our HQ in Las Vegas

* Benefits eligibility applies only to full-time exempt roles.

ACQ Core Values:

Our core values are the heart and soul of this incredible company. The right person for this role will appreciate each of these values, personally subscribe to them, and understand why each is critical to having a great business.

Competitive Greatness

Be at your best when your best is needed. Enjoyment of a hard challenge. Those who have the drive to constantly improve, the superior intellect and long term commitment to see incremental improvements become compounding returns.

Sincere Candor

Have the self awareness to accurately perceive and communicate hard truths that improve others and self, the courage to do so, and the humility to accept them, even when it hurts. Nothing great can be built without feedback: internally or externally.

Unimpeachable Character

Be the type of person with whom people are always proud to associate, personally and professionally. We look for true alignment of thoughts, words, and actions towards a goal worth pursuing.
