GRAPHIC DESIGNER POSITION DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

The Graphic Designer will apply art, design, and copy layout skills to create visually engaging concepts such as promotional and branding materials, communication media, and other print and digital materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Collaborates with Director, Markets, Lines of Business and other branch staff members to understand and/or help define projects, intended audiences, intended messages, and intended outcomes of communication.

2. Creates original and/or modifies prior visual media that communicates desired messages in order to meet goals and is consistent with Whitaker Bank’s brand.

3. Chooses graphics, stock photography, and fonts for use in visual communications; as appropriate, may enhance choices with simple drawings.

4. Prepares sample and/or drafts of design work for approval by Director and other senior staff; revises design work as necessary based on collaborative feedback process.

5. Participates in the creation and development of advertising copy for displays, newspapers, radio, television, and social media and networking.

6. Working with Director, creates and maintains brand standards/standards of usage for Whitaker Bank brand assets.

7. As appropriate, collaborates in choosing and subsequently works with relevant vendors.

8. Follows and collaborates in developing appropriate processes and systems to ensure work is created, updated, maintained, and completed effectively and efficiently.

9. Keeps informed of competitive situations and of new, successful ideas and methods in the graphic design field.

10. As needed, represents Whitaker Bank at various community, business, and educational functions to foster an awareness of the Bank’s services.

11. Responds to inquiries or refers inquiries to the appropriate department or person, and exhibits the necessary follow through with customers and/or staff involved.

12. Answers telephones, answers questions, and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.

13. Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; upholds organizational values; accepts responsibility for own actions.

14. You are to conduct yourself professionally and as a bank representative while at work and in public.

15. Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policy; shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.

16. Assures compliance with all Bank policies, procedures and processes, and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules and regulations; adheres to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities that are specific to the position.

17. Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; supports the Bank’s goals and values; benefits the Bank through outside activities.

18. Performs the position safely, without endangering the health or safety to themselves or others and will be expected to report potentially unsafe conditions. The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one’s own actions and conduct.

SECONDARY DUTIES

The position of Graphic Designer performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• At least three years of related work experience with a demonstrated portfolio of work

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in design related field of study preferred but not required

• Proficient to Expert in Adobe Creative Suite. Proficiency in other design software a plus.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Organized with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently on assignments, as well as work collaboratively as part of a team.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The incumbent is in a non-confined office type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.

In the course of performing this position the incumbent spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, smart phone, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, scanner and image systems, scanning equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer terminal, laptop computer, personal computer, tablet, printers, or other equipment as directed.
