Job Description
The Marketing and Creative Specialist supports the University of Maine's marketing and creative efforts by producing written and visual content that advances the university's brand, enrollment marketing, research visibility, and public engagement.
As a member of the Brand Studio team within the Division of Marketing and Communications, this role works under the direction of the Associate Creative Director to develop marketing materials and storytelling content across print, digital, and web platforms. The position collaborates with colleagues across marketing strategy, digital communications, media relations, and campus partners to create clear, engaging, and brand-aligned communications and materials.
This role combines creative copywriting, graphic design, web editing, and storytelling to support integrated marketing campaigns and university initiatives.Typical hiring range for this position is $48,000 to $54,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, graphic design, or a related field.
  • One to three years of professional experience in marketing, communications, journalism, design, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Demonstrated writing and storytelling ability for marketing or communications purposes.
  • Experience creating visual content for digital and/or print communications.
  • Working knowledge of design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud applications (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or similar software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience working in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience writing editorial or feature stories.
  • Familiarity with web content management systems.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and digital content best practices.
