Location: Chantilly, VA (Kitchen Suite) + occasional festivals, catering events, and tastings
Schedule: Flexible, approximately 15-20 hours per week based on production needs
Compensation: $18–$20 per hour, based on experience
Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Summary

Tysons Creamery is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Pastry Associate – Frozen Desserts to work alongside and support our Operations Manager in the preparation and production of our artisanal frozen desserts.

This is a hands-on production position focused on small-batch ice cream, macaron ice cream sandwiches, and other frozen dessert products. The ideal candidate has previous pastry, culinary, or professional food-production experience and understands the importance of precision, consistency, organization, and attention to detail.

No baking is performed in this position. Rather, we are looking for someone whose pastry or culinary background has developed the careful technique and attention to detail required for premium frozen dessert production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Operations Manager with daily frozen dessert production and kitchen operations.
  • Prepare small-batch artisanal ice cream according to established recipes and production standards.
  • Assemble and finish macaron ice cream sandwiches and other frozen dessert products.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, portion, and prepare ingredients.
  • Follow recipes and production procedures precisely to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Prepare ingredients and production materials for scheduled production.
  • Portion, package, seal, label, and organize finished products.
  • Maintain high standards for product appearance, portion size, texture, and overall quality.
  • Monitor proper handling and storage of frozen products throughout production.
  • Organize freezers, coolers, ingredients, and production supplies.
  • Receive and properly store ingredients and supplies.
  • Assist with inventory counts and product organization.
  • Prepare products and supplies for festivals, catering events, tastings, and customer orders.
  • Support event setup and service when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary production environment.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, workstations, and storage areas.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and quality-control procedures.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with additional production and operational responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Pastry, culinary, dessert-production, or comparable professional food-production experience preferred.
  • Experience working with frozen desserts, ice cream, pastry, confections, or other precision food production is a strong plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
  • Comfortable accurately weighing and measuring ingredients and following detailed recipes.
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to perform careful assembly and finishing work.
