Job Title: Seasonal Ice Cream Associate


Location: 7770 Woodmont Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814


Type: Full-time or Part-time


Position Overview:

We are seeking a friendly, efficient, and detail-oriented Ice Cream Associate to join our team for the exciting summer months at Max's Best Ice Cream. This role involves assembling and serving all menu items to our valued guests, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and ensuring smooth operations behind the counter. The ideal candidate will have a passion for exceptional customer service and a love for ice cream!


Seasonal Requirements: We are looking for team members who can start work by June 1 and work the full duration of the summer months through mid-to-late August. We require a commitment of at least 20 hours per week - approximately 3 days per week - with the option of a full-time position.


Key Responsibilities:


Customer Service

  • Greet guests warmly and answer any menu-related questions.
  • Take guest orders efficiently and accurately and promptly deliver guest orders with a smile.
  • Assemble and serve guests all menu items for both dine-in and take out orders.
  • Deliver finished products to dine-in guests at their tables or to waiting takeout guests by name.
  • Serve delicious ice cream scoops, milkshakes, sundaes, floats, and other menu items with precision and care.
  • Prepare assembly stations for milkshake, sundae, and float creation, including portioning and setting pars for the upcoming shift.
  • Handle special requests or dietary restrictions with attentiveness and professionalism.
  • Verify customer age for alcoholic beverages and ensure compliance with all legal alcohol service guidelines.

Order Fulfillment and Transactions

  • Process guest purchases using the point-of-sale (POS) system, handling cash and card transactions.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the counter area and assembly stations, equipment, and utensils throughout the shift.
  • Restock serving supplies, such as cones, napkins, and utensils, as needed.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure food handling standards are met.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Capability to stand for extended periods as well as bend and lift items weighing up to 20 pounds regularly during shifts.
  • Previous experience working in an ice cream shop and ice cream assembly is preferred.
  • Previous experience in guest-facing roles.
  • A collaborative attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Clear verbal skills to interact with customers and teammates effectively.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time in a busy environment.
  • Comfortable using a POS system (training provided).
