Job Title: Accountant -Intern (CPT/OPT Eligible)

Department: Finance Management

Organization: WoMen of Connections Ministry (WOC Ministry)

Location: Remote/ Hybrid

Internship Type: Unpaid | CPT/OPT Eligible

Start Date: Rolling (Spring/Summer preferred)

Time Commitment: 12 - 20 hours/week

About Us: WoMen of Connections Ministry is a mission-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and building stronger community connections. We support both international and native-born citizens, empowering people of all ages to lead prosperous lives through meaningful community outreach and connections.

We are currently seeking a skilled Accounting Intern to join our Finance Management team to build and maintain records that strengthen our organizational mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily management of accounts payable and receivable using accounting software.
  • Monitor and record expenditures related to specific grants and restricted funds to ensure compliance with donor requirements.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements and credit card accounts to ensure all transactions are accurately captured.
  • Assist in gathering documentation and preparing schedules for the annual external audit and Form 990 tax filings.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to generate monthly financial statements, including Statements of Activities and Financial Position.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual reports to help identify variances and determine departmental funding needs.
  • Stay current with latest nonprofit accounting standards (FASB) and maintain secure, organized digital and physical filing systems for financial records.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Currently a junior/senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; OR a recent graduate with a strong foundational understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Proficiency in data entry, financial reporting, and basic tax preparation.
  • Understanding of nonprofit accounting (Form 990), fund accounting, or small business financial management is preferred.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and cybersecurity for financial data is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive financial records.
  • Must align with WoMen of Connections Ministry's mission and vision, demonstrating a commitment to integrity and community service.
