Overview
Non-Certified Cancer Registrar, East Tennessee Cancer Registry
Full time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift
Position is home based but in person meetings are sometimes required.

Covenant Health Cancer Center is our region's largest cancer-fighting network, with more imaging centers, more board-certified physicians and surgeons, and more cancer and radiation centers closer to where you call home. And, we are a proud member of Covenant Health, our region's top-performing healthcare network with 10 hospitals, outpatient and specialty services, and Covenant Medical Group, our area's fastest-growing physician practice division.
Therapies pioneered at Covenant Health Cancer Centers have transformed and saved the lives of hundreds of East Tennessee cancer patients, while progressive clinical trials have brought the most advanced new cancer medicines to this area. In addition to the original downtown location, there are Covenant Health Cancer Center facilities in West Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Sevierville, and Morristown.
Position Summary:
Processes, maintains, compiles, and reports health information data for research, quality assessment, facility planning, marketing, abstracts and codes clinical data using appropriate classification systems, obtains long-term follow-up data for all Commission on Cancer Approved Programs and analyzes health records according to published governmental or institutional standards.
Responsibilities
  • Collect, calculate analyze, interpret and present data related to cancer.
  • Analyze health records according to standards.
  • Review and evaluate quality assessment issues.
  • Apply techniques for acquiring, filing, and maintaining cancer-related registry information.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Other related duties as assigned by manager.
  • Travel as necessary to other contracting facilities.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Good Computer Skills, Good Communication Skills

Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver's license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
