Job Title: Superintendent - Golf Course

Location: Crossing Creeks Country Club
Reports To: General Manager / Club Ownership

Position Summary for Superintendent

The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance, operation, and management of the golf course and surrounding grounds at Crossing Creeks Country Club. This includes the course itself, landscaped areas, outdoor amenities including courts and pools, and equipment. The Superintendent ensures all grounds are maintained to the highest standards of playability, safety, and aesthetics, while also managing budgets, compliance, and staff performance. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires strong collaboration, communication, and a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities for Superintendent

Course & Grounds Maintenance

  • Maintain the golf course and surrounding grounds in top playing condition, adhering to budgetary and regulatory guidelines.
  • Oversee application and documentation of fertilizers and pesticides in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensure daily upkeep and cleanliness of all outdoor areas including landscaping, pool spaces, courts, parking lots, and other club grounds.

Staff Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate maintenance and cart staff to ensure a high standard of safety, productivity, and teamwork.
  • Promote a collaborative, service-oriented culture across departments.
  • Develop work schedules and ensure efficient task completion.

Project Oversight & Budgeting

  • Plan and oversee course improvements, remodeling projects, and capital enhancements.
  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor and control expenses, including payroll, supplies, and equipment purchases.

Interdepartmental & Member Relations

  • Collaborate with Golf Professional Staff and Director of Golf to ensure a well-maintained and efficiently operated course.
  • Communicate openly with members, board, and ownership regarding course conditions and project updates.
  • Address questions, feedback, and suggestions from members and guests.

Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records for inventory, maintenance, pesticide applications, and weather data.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, labor, and environmental regulations.
  • Review and approve invoices and expenditures with attention to budget adherence.

Communication & Reporting

  • Provide weekly updates to the GM/Owners and maintain prompt daily communication via email and text.
  • Support ongoing training and leadership development for team leads and assistant staff.
Experience & Qualifications for Superintendent

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at an established 18-hole golf course
  • 2-year degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or a related field (e.g., Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, Soil Science)
  • Current pesticide application license in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Proven ability to manage course conditions, staff, budgets, and projects with a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail

Preferred:

  • Certification by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA)
  • Experience with course renovation or large-scale improvement projects
  • Strong working knowledge of irrigation systems, turf equipment, and agronomic best practices

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Budgeting, expense control, and project planning experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.
