As the Associate Manager of Category Promo & Coupon Planning & Execution, you will use your interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with partners to influence and execute strategies that positively impact the company. As an Associate Manager you will partner with your leader to execute and report on the promotional strategies for our divisional merchandising teams, partnering closely with other leaders in Category Promo & Coupon Planning & Execution and Promotion Optimization.

You will impact our business in the following ways:

  • Support your leader in participating in the building and execution of category-level bi-weekly promotional plans deliver on event criteria, themes/claims, or strategically pre-defined category promo KPIs, as established based on the impact promotion has for that category relative to other categories.
  • Partner to build category and branded coupon offer pools that support category-level ad plans and drive customer engagement (share of wallet) and deliver unit lift incremental to base regular/promotional unit forecast & plan.
  • Ensures execution of brand-level promo and coupon plans that drive unit lift and profitable sales growth in a win-win fashion for CMs and vendors while identifying and addressing funded promo/coupon plans that may be suboptimizing CVS total and category-level promotional KPIs, especially given yellow-tag and store labor constraints.

Operational Project Execution

  • Partners cross-functionally, within own team, to leverage outputs of current reporting tools and coordinate communications as needed.
  • Executes on tactical steps within project plans with minimal support.
  • Partners across departments in the Front Store (Loyalty, Promo, Category Managers, Supply Chain, Store Ops, etc.) to support the execution of project plans.
  • Manage collaborative Promotional and Coupon web-based submission tools for maintenance, testing, validation, and data entry.
  • Identify and communicate plans, risks, and opportunities with team leaders.
  • Participates in meetings/calls with cross-functional partners
  • Follows-up on strategic initiatives and provide performance summary.

Delivers Results:

  • Continually partners across Category Promo & Coupon Planning & Execution team to evaluate performance against category KPIs based on performance vs. forecast.
  • At the direction of leadership, evaluates promo & coupon programs & individual offers for category/branded impact & plans for future based on performance metrics - parameters include categories, brands, SKUs, offer types, offer depth, offer frequency, start/end dates, etc. leveraging overall coupon capabilities.
  • Leverages a results-oriented mindset to assign appropriate timelines and accountabilities for initiatives, projects and deliverables. Empowers the team to drive action steps to bring to completion
  • Optimizes use of data to support execution of key programs and processes; ensures feedback is incorporated by team into dashboards and reporting to improve utilization and effectiveness

Ad-Hoc Analytics

  • Supports reporting and analysis for deep dive/follow up questions related to current state of Front Store sales and progression towards shared goals.
  • Adapts current reporting to inform strategies to predict and mitigate sales or assortment needs, in addition to identify trends communicating those to the right partners as needed.
  • Translates data insights into meaningful insights and actions


Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and able to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge / skill / ability:

  • 5+ years' experience of developing, implementing, and executing retail merchandising and/or marketing programs.
  • 5+ years' experience actively taking on issues in a decisive manner, while keeping broader organizational dynamics in mind and empowering your leaders to obtain results through building behaviors.
  • 5+ years' experience adapting to changing dynamics in real time and finding solutions that satisfy multiple 'customers' of the business.
  • 5+ years' experience executing deliverables and managing timelines in a highly collaborative cross functional organization.
  • 5+ years' experience effectively demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills, very strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • 5+ years' experience collaborating effectively across different business functions, different perspectives, and different styles of leadership.
  • 5+ years' experience handling multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Expertise leveraging MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.
  • Ability to think about the impact of decisions on the broader enterprise.
  • Consistent record of exceptional customer service skills in increasing larger scopes of responsibility.
  • Deep understanding of merchandising at CVS, or in other like external business models

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$46,988.00 - $112,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
