Description Woodbury County benefits include: IPERS. Responsible and accountable for providing efficient, accurate and timely assistance to the County Attorney in relation to preparation of Court petitions, briefs, reports, transcripts, subpoenas, County Attorney's Information, notices, orders and other assigned legal preparations associated with court, or their designated criminal court cases including all designated cases; in accordance with proper court and legal procedures, under the direct authority of the County Attorney.

Duties The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Performs various secretarial duties Prepares designed County Attorney's Information from law enforcement officers' reports and minutes of testimony including filing Preliminary Information and County Attorney's Information in Court, as directed by the County and Assistant County Attorney Pulls files for the day's hearings in designated areas of responsibility, and maintains, in a current and accurate manner, all assigned legal and general office files and records Prepares court petitions, notices, orders and documents including preliminary County Attorney information within areas of responsibility and designated criminal Court actions Issues subpoenas and makes sure people with evidence are notified as to time and place of hearing Takes dictation and types correspondence under direction of County or Assistant County Attorneys Assists in carrying out legal secretary and clerical duties for Associate District Court and/or District Court as necessitated by office workload; including preparation of all Information on assigned court cases Performs various receptionist duties Assists in answering phones and helping visitors in the office Performs other duties related to the scope of responsibility as assigned by County Attorney Attendance is required Required Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Required to Perform the Essential Functions: Possess High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) Good knowledge of basic secretarial skills including typing, transcription, computer skills, recordkeeping and filing, scanning and electronically filing Computer skills (including computer using Word and Excel) General knowledge of legal terminology Ability to type accurately with a minimum of 40 wpm net score Ability to communicate with others in a tactful and courteous manner by means of clearly spoken English, etc. Basic knowledge of Associate District Court and County District Court procedures. Needs to be fluent in English for the effective performance of the position.
