Amentum is seeking a Counterterrorism Analyst MID to join our team of passionate individuals in Reston, VA. In this role you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the Nation's security and intelligence mission.

Amentum provides warning and all-source analytical support to DIA's Defense Combating Terrorism Office to drive DoD policy, planning, and operational decisions to counter regional and transnational terrorism threats. We conduct mission-critical counterterrorism analysis focused on operational and strategic effects against emerging terrorist threat networks and identities operating globally with intent to harm U.S. persons, facilities, and interests. Our work includes delivering national watchlisting support to the TIDE database, providing expert assessments for the Pentagon/Joint Staff, and 24/7/365 support to DoD and senior policy decision makers, as well as international and interagency partners, on predictive threat assessments regarding transnational and regional terrorist threats. Amentum analysts also support the Congressionally-mandated Prisoner of War/Missing in Action cell with analysis, collection, and 24/7 support to the U.S. government for global hostage threats or events against U.S. citizens.

Responsibilities:

Counterterrorism / Insurgency Analyst - Produces IC-coordinated all-source intelligence analytic products on non-state actors such as terrorist and insurgency groups and their activities worldwide. Analysis includes, but is not limited to, identifying, exposing, and exploiting terrorist / insurgent planning, operations, vulnerabilities; chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives (CBRNE) terrorist tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs); providing warning; and pattern of life and network development analysis. Provides analytic support to counterterrorism and counter insurgency operations. Supports the tracking, identifying, entering, and management of identity information on known or suspected terrorists as well as nominating identities as terrorist threats.

Counterterrorism/Insurgency Analysts provide strategic expertise on terrorist personalities, networks, facilities, intentions, capabilities, tactics, training, weapons, to include use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN), etc. to warn of attacks, disrupt networks, and defeat transnational terrorism. CT Analysts shall:

Conduct research and analysis of data, information, and intelligence to produce a wide range of finished all-source intelligence products for senior U.S. defense department and government officials, U.S. Combatant Commands (CCMDs) that are in accordance with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and DIA Analytical Standards.

Produce in-depth strategic and operational analysis of transnational terrorist networks and activities. Finished intelligence products shall include, standard and nonstandard DIA products as well as briefings for the tactical and strategic customers. Coordinate all products within DIA and with other IC partners. Meet formatting, classification, and dissemination guidelines when developing products.

Possess knowledge of capabilities and limitations of intelligence collection disciplines, to include general technical sensors/platforms and human intelligence sources in area of responsibility. Knowledge of IC collection management cycle, processes, systems, and tools. Knowledge of collection strategies, collection requirements, targeting, assessment, feedback, and source validation/vetting processes. Drive collection to identify and answer intelligence gaps. Work closely and effectively with collectors in all phases of the intelligence cycle.

Demonstrate knowledge and experience with applying SIGINT, GEOINT, OSINT, and HUMINT data sets and databases to identify transnational terrorist networks and their key actors.

Support DoD field collectors and determine the best methodology to prepare and produce integrated intelligence products including targeting products in direct support of special operations.

Provide analytical support for special operations and conventional activities to include temporary duty (TDY) support to partner nations.

Provide support to national and DoD/CCMD level planning efforts to include contingency and crisis planning.

Respond to customer requests for terrorism information with both oral and written products at the strategic, operational and tactical levels. Participate in meetings, conferences, and working groups and provide strategic and operational analysis of transnational terrorism issues in assigned focus area.

Preferred:

Desired Experience: 8 years of experience related to the specific labor category with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years.
Desired Education: Bachelor's degree in an area related to the labor category from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Previous CT experience in a national level intelligence agency is highly desired. Desired degree in security or intelligence studies with a recommended focus on terrorism or other transnational security threats.
Demonstrates understanding of the 200 Series of ODNI's ICDs: 203 - Analytic Standards, 206 - Sourcing Requirements for Disseminated Products, and 208 - Write for Maximum Utility.

Produce formal written strategic counterterrorism and or all source intelligence assessments, products, graphics and briefings in accordance with ICD 203, DIA and ODNI standards as appropriate. Demonstrates ability to use research databases (e.g., Global Terrorism Database) and use quantifiable matrices in a professional setting to prepare written and oral products on complex topics.
