Essential Job Responsibilities:
Kitchen Operations and Management
Assist Food Service Specialist with food purchasing using Food Buying Guide.
Assist with breakfast, lunch and snack preparation for children, parents and staff.
Implement special diets
Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen facilities, cookware, dishes and eating utensils on a daily basis.
Maintain safe and sanitary storage of food.
Prepare food for parent meetings and policy council.
Assist with recordkeeping as required.
Maintain orderly storage and kitchen environment.
Assist with meal set up and clean up.
Adhere to sanitation and safety procedures.
Eat with children in the classroom
Meal Delivery and Transportation
Comply with all program transportation policies and procedures.
Assist with loading and unloading of prepared foods to and from food service van utilizing proper lifting and ergonomic techniques.
Maintain clean van and up to date transportation documentation.
Transport carriers and pans back to kitchen.
Ensure safe and timely delivery of meals
Assist with meal set up and clean up
Comply with all program transportation policies and procedures.
Assist with unloading of prepared foods from food service van.
Adhere to sanitation and safety procedures.
Eat with children in the classroom
Provide feedback to Food Service Specialist on food quality, food quantity, and student/teacher acceptance.
Dishwashing and Clean up
Wash breakfast, lunch and snack dishes using approved sanitation methods.
Return all items to proper storage site.
Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen facilities, cookware, carts and carriers, dishes and eating utensils on a daily basis.

Following established procedures and PPE (if applicable), perform periodic cleaning tasks as assigned for proper maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
Other center cleaning duties as assigned by supervisor.
Utilize Information Systems to support family/agency outcomes.
Complete USDA tracking as needed in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain all records in a confidential manner in accordance with the program confidentiality policy.

Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements
HS Diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year experience in quantity cooking, menu planning, budget buying and current Food Handler's card.
Organizational skills and ability to maintain kitchen record keeping system.
Sensitivity to nutritional needs of families in the target area.
Familiarity with USDA guidelines preferred.
Ability to work effectively as a team member as well as independently with staff, families and community members.
Basic math and writing skills
Ability to complete Program Van training and meet all criteria for driving program van.
Other Requirements
Current First Aid/CPR and Food Handler's cards.
Enrollment in the Child Care Divisions Central Background Registry
Valid Oregon driver's license and acceptable driving record meeting the criteria for agency insurance and driving program vehicles
Completion of Employee Health Appraisal
Necessary Physical/Mental Abilities
Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task on an ongoing basis.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently, 10-15 pounds consistently and frequently.
Repetitive bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and climbing to prepare food items, place food items in storage, load/unload the van for food transport and participate in kitchen cleaning.
High level of daily repetitive motion with hands and arms in preparation of food and dishwashing activities.
Ability to manipulate basic kitchen tools on a repetitive basis.
Ability to safely manipulate large quantity food production equipment.
