Facilities Maintenance Technician

Summary:
The Facilities Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and other building systems under the direction of the Facilities Planning and Operations Manager.
Pay: $20-25/hr depending on experience
Location: 775 West Broad, Columbus, Ohio 43222 (Free parking + on a major COTA bus route)
Assignment: Full Time, Permanent, Non-Exempt
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of facility, grounds, and building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Coordinate with facility tenants to complete repairs and maintenance tasks as requested
  • Inspect and troubleshoot issues or requests to determine necessary repairs
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining security systems
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs
  • Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, including ordering
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and tools
  • Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Participate in required training, certifications, and ongoing development as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in building maintenance or related field
  • Certifications in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and OSHA regulations strongly preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
  • Proficiency in using various hand and power tools
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, ordinances, and regulations
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints as necessary
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to traverse property and facilities to diagnose building issues and perform repairs or maintenance in all types of weather
  • Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed
  • Flexibility to work evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, reach, crouch, and/or climb for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
