POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cybersecurity Engineer provides professional support in multiple areas of information security, including security design and implementation of security-related technology. This position participates in technical security implementation and operations, including network and cloud architectures, intrusion detection, network security, remote access, antivirus, SEIM, and other security systems.

Performs duties that advance COTA's Strategic Plan and reflect the organization's core values of safety, empowerment, accountability, teamwork, and service, and support the mission of Moving Every Life Forward.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of COTA information systems and data by evaluating security controls, reporting findings, and recommending improvements to policies, procedures, and technologies;
  • Conducts threat monitoring, vulnerability analysis, intrusion detection, incident response analysis, and risk analysis using security tools such as SIEM, XDR, endpoint protection, and platform-specific security technologies;
  • Supports investigation, reporting, and response activities for security incidents, control breaches, and compliance concerns to ensure continued protection of systems and data;
  • Performs vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, security assessments, and related reporting, including recommended remediation actions;
  • Ensures access control, incident response, risk management, and security compliance requirements are properly addressed across systems, projects, and initiatives;
  • Researches, designs, implements, and evaluates cybersecurity solutions for COTA systems and products in alignment with applicable security policies, standards, and emerging threat trends;
  • Collaborates with IT and internal and external business partners to ensure security requirements are incorporated into the evaluation, selection, installation, configuration, and implementation of hardware, software, and technology solutions;
  • Develops, maintains, publishes, and supports enforcement of information security standards and guidelines related to data, systems, and intellectual property protection;
  • Supports compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and industry security requirements, including audit coordination, issue identification, problem resolution, and internal and external customer support;
  • Maintains current knowledge of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, attack methods, and industry trends, translating that knowledge into actionable plans to protect the organization;
  • Communicates effectively across departments and stakeholder groups to promote secure technology use, support project implementation, and advance organizational cybersecurity objectives;
  • Evaluates and recommends new security technologies and responsive measures to address emerging risks and strengthen COTA's security posture.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years' experience in multiple information security domains, including identity and access management, network security, and security operations. Experience in security engineering is highly desired.
  • CISSP, CISM, CEH, Security+, SANS GIAC-GSEC preferred.
