Job description

Autumn Harp is a premier contract manufacturer specializing in beauty and personal care products. We pride ourselves on delivering best-in-class service and fostering a culture of excellence. The company’s state of the art facility provides premium service and creative solutions to product development and manufacturing of skincare, color cosmetics and lip care products, in service to the personal care industry. Our OTC facility provides support to clients who range from major global corporations to independent brands. We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced R&D Formulation Chemist to join our team in an environment with strong commitment to internal and external customer service. This position supports the development of new products with a strong focus on core cosmetic chemistry principles, including formulation, testing, pilot, and scale-up activities. Works independently on routine formulation adjustments and assists in developing customer formulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within the R&D team to formulate new products with an emphasis on creativity and innovation
  • Oversee the organization and storage of lab samples to be placed in storage for stability and compatibility testing
  • Prepares lab prototype batches as directed, including filling tubes, jars, or specified containers with product and applying appropriate identification labels
  • Ensure products are developed in compliance with regulatory requirements for the intended markets
  • Partners with Account Managers to coordinate product development activities and maintain up-to-date timelines
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external R&D and Regulatory teams to ensure product compliance
  • Collaborate with Process Engineer to support pilot runs and scale-up of new products
  • Source and evaluate new raw materials for products
  • Communicate with customers to ensure products meet their regulatory and formulation requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, cosmetic science or science related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of cosmetic formulation experience
  • Experience with regulatory requirements, raw materials, and product specifications, procedure writing and scale-up of new products
  • Proven ability to be creative and drive innovation
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize numerous development projects
  • A passion for the cosmetic industry and staying up to date with new developments and trends
