As a Formulator at Primally Pure, you will lead the development of innovative, high-performance skincare products that align with our commitment to natural, non-toxic, and clean beauty standards. You will be responsible for all stages of product creation โ€” from concept to finished formula โ€” while ensuring compliance with safety, efficacy, and regulatory standards. This role requires both creative vision and technical expertise, as well as the ability to mentor and collaborate with junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development & Formulation

  • Lead the research, formulation, and optimization of new skincare products from concept to launch.

  • Develop and refine formulas to improve performance, stability, and consumer experience.

  • Select and validate raw materials, ensuring alignment with brand ingredient philosophy, sustainability goals, and performance criteria.

  • Design and execute stability, compatibility, and microbial testing programs.

  • Maintain meticulous documentation of formulas, batch records, and testing results in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Innovation & Ingredient Sourcing

  • Partner with suppliers to identify cutting-edge, sustainable, and clean ingredient innovations.

  • Evaluate emerging formulation technologies that support product differentiation and market leadership.

  • Ensure sourcing aligns with regenerative, wildcrafted, and clean ingredient standards.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure formulas meet all applicable regulations and internal clean beauty standards.

  • Support product claims substantiation and coordinate with quality control for raw material and finished goods testing.

  • Provide technical guidance during scale-up and production runs to ensure formula integrity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with marketing to align product development with brand vision and consumer trends.

  • Partner with production to ensure seamless scale-up from lab batches to manufacturing.

  • Provide technical training and mentorship to junior formulators and lab technicians.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3โ€“5 years of hands-on experience formulating skincare or personal care products, significant natural and clean formulation development strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of cosmetic chemistry, formulation techniques, and raw material functionality.

  • Proven track record of successfully launching products from concept to market.

  • Familiarity with certifications such as USDA Organic, EWG Verified, and other clean beauty standards.

  • Proficient in ERP, WMS, and formulation software.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
