What we're looking for:

Works with Research Scientists and R&D Managers to evaluate existing and new chemistries, processes, or applications related to Indovinya products in a safe manner, but also works independently to accomplish small to large projects around their lab focus area. This position is focused in the laboratory working on directed experiments in a safe manner. The lab work may include glassware reactors, Parr reactor reactions, etc. Also, the work could include application specific testing for areas such as agricultural, oilfield, paints/coatings, personal care, etc. Maintaining projects status, documents, and equipment.

What We Are Looking For

  • Works with Research Scientists and R&D Managers to evaluate existing and new chemistries, processes, or applications related to Indovinya products in a safe manner
  • Works independently to accomplish small to large projects around their lab focus area
  • Fully competent chemist requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Ability to devise new approaches to problems and situations without supervision
  • Maintain awareness of literature and other sources of information to remain current with developments in functional products of interest to the Corporation

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Set up and execute laboratory work as outlined by R&D Scientists
  • Run small to large sized experiments independently
  • Analyze samples by analytical methods or application testing
  • Maintain project status, documentation, and equipment
  • Keep neat and orderly notebooks containing a record of all work performed
  • Maintain orderly laboratory space
  • Follow all safety and training requirements
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard chemistry techniques and procedures
  • Maintain an understanding of Indorama products and applications while supporting Research Scientists

Other General Responsibilities

  • Work to complete projects in the US project pipeline
  • Set up and execute laboratory work to meet internal and external customer expectations
  • Support R&D Lab Manager with properly managing lab resources
  • Guarantee all documentation under responsibility is updated and available
  • Manage and optimize processes taking into consideration quality, legality, food safety (if applicable), and customer needs
  • Interact with R&D team to improve lab methods and support internal and external clients as needed
  • Maintain records to support patent applications for innovative products

Requirements

  • BS in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or Polymer Chemistry/Engineering required
  • BS in other science field plus 2+ years in research laboratory work, or Associate's degree with 5+ years in research laboratory work
  • 10+ years' experience in R&D laboratory work (15+ years preferred)
  • Surfactants knowledge preferred
  • Experience with Parr Reactors preferred
  • Experience with chromatography, spectroscopy, wet analysis, or other analytical techniques preferred
  • Formulation experience in personal care and colored cosmetic formulation, prototype developments required.
  • Experience with stability, compatibility, and performance testing to ensure product quality, safety, and shelf-life routines for personal care required
  • Experience with of scale-up processes, formulation optimization preferred
  • Computer literacy with databases, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated presentation skills preferred
  • English required; bilingual Portuguese or Spanish strongly preferred
