Position Summary
This senior leadership role is responsible for protecting and advancing associate engagement and the company's reputation through clear, credible, and strategically aligned communications. This individual serves as a trusted advisor to the executive team and operates effectively across a global matrix organization - aligning national, Business Unit and functional communications with company priorities while navigating competing stakeholder needs. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring equal command of detailed strategy and on-the-ground execution. The successful candidate brings deep experience communicating to and through large, distributed and frontline workforces and is equally at home advising executives, directing a crisis response, or developing communications that reach a manufacturing floor.
Key Responsibilities
  • Executive advisory and leadership alignment. Serve as a strategic communications advisor to the U.S. company President and senior leadership team. Translate complex business priorities into clear, consistent narratives that align leaders on business and cultural priorities and move the organization forward.
  • Internal communications and associate engagement. Lead enterprise internal communications programs that build organizational alignment, reinforce culture, and sustain trust across all levels of the business, including complex, multi-site environments with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Content creation and editorial leadership. Set the standard for communications quality across the function. Lead the development of high-impact content for internal and external audiences - including executive communications, town hall materials, corporate narratives, press materials, digital content, and leadership messaging - ensuring every output is clear, on-brand, and purpose-driven.
  • Transformation and change communications. Develop and execute communications strategy for company-wide transformation initiatives. Mobilize associates around strategic change management, cultural evolution, and performance priorities.
  • Frontline communications strategy. Design and lead communications strategies that reach and resonate with large hourly and frontline workforces, including field-based sales, manufacturing and distribution associates. Develop channel strategies, messaging frameworks, and manager enablement tools that bridge the gap between corporate strategy and the frontline.
  • External reputation and media relations. Oversee earned media strategy, spokesperson development, and proactive PR to drive sustained corporate and trade coverage. Shape and protect the company's external narrative across consumer, industry, and all other relevant audience.
  • Crisis and issues management. Lead communications response for high-impact crises including product recalls, regulatory events, cyber incidents, and workforce issues. Serve as a calm, credible presence under pressure. Partnering with Legal, PEOPLE, and Operations to protect trust and business continuity.
  • Cross-functional partnership. Build trusted working relationships across PEOPLE, Finance, Sales, Operations, Transformation Office and Marketing. Serve as a communications partner, not just a service provider, at every level of the organization, from the executive level to the frontline.
  • Global matrix navigation. Partner with global communications, regional business units, and functional leadership to ensure message alignment and execution. Build productive relationships across geographies and levels, balancing global standards with local relevance.
  • Team leadership and development. Lead and develop a high-performing communications team. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and creative rigor by setting clear expectations, investing in talent growth, and delivering results with minimal agency reliance. Model the standards you expect and create an environment where strong communicators do their best work.

Education & Work History
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field required.
  • 15 years of progressive communications experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role at a large, complex organization (10,000+ associates).
  • Demonstrated experience developing frontline and associate communications strategies in manufacturing, distribution, retail, or similarly distributed environments.
  • Proven ability to navigate and influence in a global matrix organization, building alignment without direct authority.
  • Track record leading crisis response and protecting organizational reputation in regulated or high-scrutiny environments.

Technical Skills
  • Deep experience driving communications through enterprise transformation and significant organizational change .
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills; strong executive presence and ability to influence at the highest levels.
  • Experience in CPG, manufacturing, or another complex, consumer-facing industry preferred.
