Project Management Office (PMO) Manager

The PMO Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and effectiveness of the NewWave Project Management Office. This position is chartered with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of PMO policies, procedures, practices, tools, and training leading to highly effective and streamlined project management approaches and outcomes. This position is a key member of the Operation management team within the company and will be responsible for keeping executive leadership apprised of all PMO activities and priorities in support of the Office's mission.

Minimum requirements

Core Accountabilities: Continue to develop and mature the design of the PMO office, continuously improving the effectiveness of the PMO in support of Operations and Program Delivery. Define, implement, and measure effectiveness of project management methodologies as well as project management tools used across the Operations Organization. Develop and measure against Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the PMO and the projects. Provide direction, leadership and mentoring to PMO staff members to include: assignment of work, establishment of staff performance objectives, and administering the performance review process for all PMO staff. Establish measureable team and individual staff objectives that are aligned with business and organization goals; measure progress in these areas throughout each fiscal year. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with organizational stakeholders (i.e. program delivery team). Serve as a subject matter expert within the organization for project management knowledge areas and work with the Leadership team to develop and update Project Management methodology and tools for the organization.


Assist Program Delivery organizations with implementation of PMO best practices across each of the organization's respective projects; work closely with Project Managers to ensure effective utilization of Industry, Corporate and PMO best practices. Establish and implement a methodology for assessing project compliance with the organization's project management standards, such as Risk Management, schedule management, quality, and financial management. Establish and implement an Earned Value Management competency. Develop, implement and maintain project management best practices and standard practices (leveraging PMBOK and CMMI) to support project activities within the organization.


Provide training and mentoring to the organization as related to project management best practices and standard practices. Manage the implementation and ongoing use of Project Server within the organization; ensure implemented solution meets current and future organizational needs. Provide on-going maintenance/support of the Project Server environment; ensuring future releases and enhancements. Demonstrate , support and live the NewWave Corporate core values on a day to day basis: Customer First, People Focused, Integrity Everyday, Social Responsibility, Quality Driven.

Desired requirements

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required. 3 - 5 years people management experience. 3- 5 years Project Management Office experience.Prior experience with the development and implementation of a corporate PMO. 7 - 10 years of hands on project management experience. Experience with Earned Value Management implementations is highly desirable. 3 years Project Server 2010 or 2013 experience, implementation experience is highly desirable. CMMI L3/L4 experience in a Government Contracting environment and strong interpersonal and team building skills. Health Information Technology experience and background is highly desirable.
