Job description

We are seeking a Core Facility Technologistwho will perform core facility tasks and complete routine to complex research specimen procurement, processing, and shipping. Perform assays following laboratory and governing regulatory practices in a central services core facility. Contribute to various aspects of the core facility effort and operations workflow.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement workflows.
  • Make modifications within established parameters as needed.
  • Assist with interpreting results, e.g., read controls, evaluate results, and outcomes of clinical research specimen quality.
  • Order equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with orientation of new staff to the core facility.
  • Facilitate problem solving for entry-level lab members on day-to-day problems.
  • Assist in development of new technical workflows, procedures, instrument applications, and verification procedures.
  • Uphold the highest quality of provided services, ensuring adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) plan to maintain excellence and compliance in operations.
  • Provide customer service and consultation as needed. As needed, contribute to the optimization of custom assays; perform equipment qualifications; write/edit/implement SOPs for studies; contribute to writing procedural content for manuscripts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
