OSP Copper Splicer (Expert Level)

Location: Coronaa, CA (On-site / Field-Based)

Pay: $30–$40/hr + Overtime

Position Type: Permanent / Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced OSP Copper Splicer to perform advanced splicing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of copper cable networks in aerial and underground environments. This is a 100% field-based role requiring hands-on technical expertise and the ability to work independently.


Key Responsibilities
  • Splice, rearrange, and terminate copper cables (aerial and underground)
  • Install and seal closures to industry standards
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair copper cable systems (OSP facilities, terminals, loop carriers)
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Locate and repair cable faults while ensuring system reliability
  • Perform acceptance testing and documentation of installations
  • Execute cable cutovers with minimal service disruption
  • Monitor airflow and pressure in underground cable systems
  • Use testing equipment (volt/ohm meters, transmission measuring sets)
  • Maintain accurate records of work, repairs, and test results
  • Communicate with customers and inspectors regarding project updates
  • Set up traffic control when required and adhere to all safety regulations
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of copper splicing, troubleshooting, and repair experience
  • 4+ years installing/repairing copper cable and telecom equipment
  • Strong OSP experience
  • Proficiency with testing tools (volt/ohm meters, transmission test sets)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction prints
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NESC, DOT, and utility safety standards
  • Ability to distinguish colors and perform fine-detail work
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Industry certification in copper splicing/testing (preferred)
Preferred/Additional Skills
  • Experience with coax and fiber optic testing/splicing
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Work Environment
  • 100% field-based work (aerial and underground)
  • Frequent lifting (up to 25 lbs) and physical activity (climbing, kneeling, bending, crawling, etc.)
  • Exposure to varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise, vibration)
  • Operation of vehicles and bucket trucks
