Job description

EMT Position

Salary Range: $52,438.00 to $59,957.00, Depending on Experience

We are seeking dedicated EMTs who are passionate about delivering high-quality service and providing patient care in a professional, compassionate, and cost-effective manner. EMTs assess situations, provide patient care, and determine the best course of action and appropriate protocols for each call. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Education and Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • State-issued or National Registered EMT certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with Rural/Metro policy (a DUI within the last 5 years disqualifies an applicant).
  • Ability to work any assigned shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Availability for overtime as needed, including emergency assignments.
  • Must meet local standards for qualifications, training, and eligibility for hiring, placement, or promotion.

Customer Service Responsibilities:

Provide information to the public, conduct tours of the fire station, visit schools, and participate in public education events. Work involves serving the public and requires cooperative interaction with co-workers, supervisors, doctors, and other healthcare professionals. Engage with representatives from other city departments, fire departments, and local, state, and federal agencies.

Essential Functions:

Emergency Medical Services: Responds to emergency medical calls, performing primary and secondary assessments of ill or injured individuals and providing emergency and non-emergency medical procedures on-site and in transport. Conducts skilled tasks during emergency and non-emergency calls and transfers patients to medical facilities. Treats patients according to established Emergency Medical Service protocols and Rural/Metro Fire Department policies. Provides written reports detailing patient care. May serve as a mentor for EMT-B trainees.

Maintenance Responsibilities:

Conduct daily and weekly inspections of vehicles and equipment as assigned. Ensure all discrepancies related to vehicles and equipment are documented and reported to the on-duty Fire Captain. Perform daily maintenance of facilities, including cleaning, inspecting, and other necessary facility maintenance.

Compliance Responsibilities:

Review paperwork for accuracy and adherence to processes. Participate in scheduled and unscheduled onsite compliance audits. Implement corrective and preventive measures as determined by the Corporate Compliance/Audit Committee. Work cooperatively with Internal Audit, Compliance, and HR on recommendations and changes to compliance and legal workflows. Take swift action in accordance with Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance regarding any areas of concern. Comply with and enforce all policies and procedures. Complete all required Compliance Training within the designated time frame without any compliance-related corrective actions during the current review period. Other duties as assigned.
