Job Description

This role prepares and serves high-quality food in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while following all applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations. You will ensure that every meal meets established recipes, portioning, temperature, and presentation requirements, while maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
  • Serve meals or prepare food for delivery using correct portioning, ensuring that food meets outlined standards, is at the correct temperature, and is visually appealing and tasty.
  • Taste all prepared food items to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Follow established ticket collection procedures during service and maintain accurate records for the area worked during service periods.
  • Clean the kitchen after food preparation and service, consistently maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Store or discard excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
  • Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean, neat, and well organized, ensuring all food and supply items are stored according to standards.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and correctly, following provided instructions.
  • Assist with production planning, record keeping, and reporting as required.
  • Assist in ordering and receiving food and supplies as needed.
  • Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor promptly.
  • Participate in in-service and safety meetings as required.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
  • Perform all job duties safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Ensure proper food presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures in line with HACCP standards.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to your own safety and the safety of others.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, including the use of appropriate protective equipment.
  • Use medium-weight cut-resistant gloves when handling or using knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or when cleaning slicers.
  • Use oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers, or steam tables.
  • Wear slip-resistant shoes and use proper lifting techniques at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support kitchen operations and service quality.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience with food preparation and cooking in a professional kitchen.
  • Experience with batch cooking or working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate with a strong sense of urgency during busy service periods.
  • Strong line cook skills, including accurate portioning, timing, and station management.
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes, instructions, and production schedules consistently.
  • Commitment to food safety, including adherence to HACCP standards and safe food-handling procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
