Job Description
Position Purpose:
Process specialty feed streams that are unable to be processed in any other part of the facility in the
natural state in which they were received. Feed drums, totes, and cylinders to the incinerator through
direct inject nozzles to the kiln and secondary combustion chamber(SCC). Document and further code
items that have been fed through the specialty feed boxes for final destruction and tracking.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ability to perform all duties of a Specialty Feed Operator I.
  • Assist site mechanical department as well as outside contractors with the preventative maintenance, repair, or calibration of equipment and issue permits for these activities. Permits may include:
    • Safe Work, HotWork, Line Break, and Confined Space Entry Permits
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out of all specialty feed box equipment in preparation for repairs
  • Troubleshooting, flushing, unplugging, cleaning, repairing, and swapping of feed lines, pumps, nozzles, vent fans, flame arrestors, and boxes.
  • Tear down and decon feed pumps for repairs
  • Prepare equipment for start-up and shutdown scenarios
  • Verify chemical compatibility and reference Waste Information Profiles(WIP) or provided chemical reference material to ensure safe and reaction free processing of material
  • Utilize Nitrogen for box purging, inerting, pump operations, and line clearing
  • Utilize diesel and toluene for line flushing and clearing and maintain local inventory of flushing chemicals
  • Must be able to Operate both the Glovebox and Totebox
  • May include conveyor feed operation/roles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • No unsatisfactory work performance issues and must be qualified in current position (6) months or more
  • Currently holding or previously held a position which by definition of task and/or area required person to be trained to level of hazardous waste operator
  • Minimum one to two years process operations experience preferred
  • Minimum six months heavy equipment operations preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to pass a respirator fit test
  • Must be able to perform the job requirements and pass a verbal and/or written skill/proficiency test for the position within a reasonable orientation/training period set by Supervisor.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good math aptitude.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER training
