MINER 3 - Scoop Operator

West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. is a Canadian gold exploration and development company focused on restarting and expanding the historic Madsen Gold Mine in the Red Lake District of Northwestern Ontario. In addition to advancing the Madsen Mine toward sustainable production, the company is developing nearby high-grade gold deposits to support future growth. Reporting to the Underground Mine Supervisor, the successful candidate will work a 14 & 14 rotation and be responsible for operating equipment and managing materials within their assigned work areas. The role involves performing a variety of duties that contribute to the underground mining cycle while adhering to safe work procedures and supporting production, operational, and safety targets.

About the Candidate:

Minimum 3 years of underground hard rock mining experience, preferably in a Scoop Operator position.

Knowledge of underground mining methods, ground control practices, and mine safety procedures.

Strong commitment to safety standards and operational excellence and maintaining high housekeeping standards.

Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

Committed to continuous improvement and adherence to company policies and provincial regulations.

Physically fit and capable of performing demanding work in underground mining conditions.

Underground Common Core Modules are considered an asset.

About the Role:

The Miner 3 - Scoop Operator position offers a competitive base hourly rate of $72.72, with eligibility to participate in a production bonus program that may increase total compensation up to $113.72 per hour, subject to program terms and performance criteria.


As part of the underground mining team, the incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) equipment in support of underground mining activities. The role requires a strong commitment to safe production, adherence to mine plans and engineering specifications, and a focus on achieving development and production targets.


  • Complete pre-operational inspections, circle checks, and basic equipment maintenance prior to each shift.
  • Muck and transport ore and waste material from production and development headings to designated dumping locations.
  • Set up and operate remote mucking systems, including remote mucking blocks, stopes, and backfill operations.
  • Install, maintain, and assist with underground services and infrastructure as required.
  • Operate and maintain ore chutes or conveyor systems
  • Construct and repair support structures
  • Attach and extend ventilation and water pipes and related mine services tasks
  • Assist miners in setting up and operating drills and other machinery
  • Supply and maintain backfill distribution of sand, rock and other materials
  • Maintain supply storage areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of underground mining operations.
