Underground Production Miner - Blaster

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines.  It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario.  The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor (Production), the successful candidate must have the ability to lead the mine crew in long hole loading and blasting.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Complete workplace inspection and document on 5 Point Card;
• Lead loading crew to work safely and efficiently an maintain accurate logbook entries along with daily work reports;
• Loading longhole blasts as per engineered print;
• Preparation of stopes and cleaning holes as necessary;
• Able to program and troubleshoot Ikon detonators;
• Safely blow pipe work area;
• Safely and efficiently operate Orica Loading Equipment;
• Safely and efficiently operate Kubota backhoe;
• Contribute to and establish effective workplace relationships; and
• All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

• Accreditation of basic common core;
• Accreditation of specialty common core;
• Ability to comprehend engineering prints;
• Self – motivated, ability to work alone;
• Strong Safety focus;
• 7 years plus underground mining experience.

Schedule: 10 hours, 7/7 rotation

Pay/Shift Range: $40.23 CAD - $46.20 CAD / hour

The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
