General Purpose of Position: We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Machine Equipment Operator to join our team. You will be responsible for operating a variety of light construction machinery, vehicles, and power tools to assist in the completion of projects, such as construction and/or oil & gas projects, utility repairs, or site preparation. This role requires a strong focus on safety, routine maintenance of machinery, and the ability to perform manual labor when necessary.
Essential Job Duties: - Equipment Operation: Safely operate light equipment including, but not limited to, skid steers, mini-excavators, telehandlers and trenchers.
- Maintenance & Inspection: Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment, checking fluids, grease, tires, and mechanical components. Perform routine maintenance (e.g., lubricating, cleaning) and report malfunctions to supervisors immediately. Clean and wash equipment as needed.
- Job-Site Support: Assist with loading and unloading materials, tools, and machinery at job sites. Perform manual labor tasks, including tying down equipment, lifting, etc.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols and working in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, maintenance, and work completed using a hand-held device such as a cell phone or laptop/tablet.
Additional Job Duties: - Maintain and foster professional relationships with all customers, staff, and vendors.
- Complete all required company safety documentation daily (e.g., JSEA, DVIR, journey management, and observation cards).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating light construction equipment (1-2+ years preferred).
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B may be required depending on the equipment.
- Valid Operator's Card and any other required training pertaining to the jobsite or functions on the jobsite.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions; basic mechanical skills for minor repairs.
- Equipment certification (e.g., OSHA, Forklift) is a plus.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam, drug and alcohol screening and comply with regulations as well as all company and customer policies.
- Must be able to stand, sit, bend, or climb for long periods of time.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking on uneven surfaces.
- Frequent climbing, balancing, reaching, sitting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Frequent carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to work irregular hours.
- Ability to successfully solve problems.
- Comply with all Stingray policies and procedures and all health and safety policies and regulations.
Environment: Frequent exposure to outdoor elements including wet, humid conditions and extreme heat or cold. Exposure to oils and other materials on location. Exposure to high noise level areas.
