Summary

As a key front-line leader within the Conversion operation, the Team Lead - Conversion supports the Conversion Supervisor in driving safety, productivity, quality, and operational excellence. This role plays an important part in maintaining production flow, supporting employee development, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and helping the team achieve business objectives through strong leadership and continuous improvement practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Conversion Supervisor in the daily operation of the assigned area and provide leadership coverage during supervisor absences when required.
  • Drive production performance by ensuring output, productivity, and quality expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Complete and maintain accurate labor, material, inventory, and production reporting.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while promoting compliance with all company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Support Health, Safety & Environmental initiatives and contribute to an Incident and Injury Free workplace.
  • Follow Leader Standard Work requirements and champion 5S housekeeping practices throughout the department.
  • Safely operate equipment and ensure team members follow established safety practices.
  • Train, coach, and support new and developing employees to build safe, efficient, and quality-focused work habits.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and problem-solving initiatives across the operation.
  • Respond to Sales Team requests and collaborate with cross-functional partners to support customer needs.
  • Ensure adequate material availability by monitoring inventory levels and replenishment requirements.
  • Monitor staging areas and maintain efficient movement of materials and finished goods throughout the facility.
  • Track production orders, prioritize work according to schedules, and proactively address order discrepancies to prevent delays.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse, Shipping, and Sales teams to ensure timely order fulfillment and delivery.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and perform transactions within the IFS system.
  • Obtain and maintain forklift certification and support product movement throughout the operation as needed.
  • Support overtime requirements, departmental projects, and other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Formal training in Continuous Improvement required.
  • Six Sigma White Belt or Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
  • Solid understanding of workplace safety standards, 5S methodology, and continuous improvement tools such as 8D and 5 Why analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams, establish priorities, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sense of urgency, and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing materials, conversion processes, production workflows, inventory control, and quality systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, operating instructions, production documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to perform detailed inspections and work effectively in an environment with changing priorities and demands.
