Job description

Overview
The Area Sales Manager will have direct account management responsibility based on the requirements of the area. This may include basic services, such as: inventory management, feed system upkeep and relationship support. Working with the RSM, it is the responsibility of the ASM to best determine how to utilize resources within the given area.
Responsibilities
  • Specifically, the Area Sales Manager will have regional responsibility for the following functions:
    • Manages a team of Sales, Application Engineers, and Technicians to sustain and grow business in the Wisconsin area.
    • Accountable for an area that consists of two to ten accounts.
    • Assesses and develops direct reports on a consistent basis.
    • Deploys a team to ensure all customer and Axchem expectations are met for the assigned territory or projects. May provide assistance to team or possess direct ownership of one or more accounts.
    • Liaise and partner with Regional Sales Manager to ensure the best use of resources in addition to open and effective communication across business operations and both the Equipment and AxTION teams.
    • Develops customer-agreed service plans with all major account managers.
    • Contribute to the continued and future success of Axchem by sharing subject matter expertise and best practices.
    • Occasional support for other Axchem activities across the US.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent is preferred. A Bachelor's Degree in Pulp and Paper Engineering or Paper Science is especially preferred. Candidates with significant relevant experience and proven capabilities in lieu of these degrees will be considered.
  • Successful and progressive industry experience in Sales and or Manufacturing of related products, especially leadership experience.
  • Ability to develop and further grow sales; and enhance the efforts of the sales force in achieving company objectives.
  • Strong orientation to team leadership style of management; and the ability to support subordinates and gain their cooperation and respect.
  • Knowledge and ability to generate sales opportunities and to develop them through a discovery and solution development process. Ability to generate, present, and navigate solution proposals, and ability to design, coordinate, execute, and document chemical evaluations. Ability to successfully finalize business agreements integrating technical, commercial, and interpersonal aspects into stable business, and an ability to defend and support that business indefinitely.
  • Business acumen and an understanding of manufacturing, logistics, equipment, and financial aspects of the business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in using financial controls, sales management, personnel development and product applications systems; and the ability to relate and use these functions effectively to achieve sales objectives.
  • The ability to participate effectively in sales and business planning, and to arrive at sound decisions designed to produce effective results.
  • Confident, bright, articulate, innovative, highly motivated and self-starting with a high energy level and a spirit of team effort and cooperation, and of the highest integrity.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience at the intermediate to advanced level.
