The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing controls systems for Daikin's cutting-edge HVAC equipment. Under direct supervision, you will collaborate with project teams, design detailed controls systems, program control sequences and ensure systems operate efficiently and effectively to meet the environmental needs of various customers. Your Responsibilities
  • Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope
  • Under supervision, give limited advice and analyze information within a specific function for others within the organization
  • Under the close guidance of experienced engineers, evaluate, analyze, and make recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company
  • Identify and procure materials needed to construct prototypes and participate in the design engineering of new models
  • Support the planning and development of test programs for prototypes, analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications
  • Assist in analyzing, evaluating, sourcing, and coordinating the procurement of new materials and components to support model changes
  • With direction, analyze, evaluate, and recommend cost improvement ideas through product, vendor, and design changes
  • Perform technical analysis of competitive products
  • Provide support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer literature
  • Provide support to manufacturing to implement controls systems in manufactured products
Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with laboratory, design, and product marketing teams
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with vendors to perform work and services relating to mechanical/electrical facility systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, or related field
  • Understanding of HVAC equipment and components
  • Ability to read an electrical schematic
  • Exposure to fundamentals of instrumentation, including RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, electrical and power measurements, and analog/digital data acquisition
  • Formal coursework in the areas of measurement systems, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and strength of materials
  • Programming experience

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $62,000-$124,300 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
